    Posted: 08 October 2007 at 11:34pm

So, i was thinking of tryen to save some mony instead of buying parts and using a laith at school to make some of my own parts. i think i could make an aluminum power tube for the a5 and do some tinkering to the hammer to make it lighter, like drilling some metal out of it.

i think if i lightend up the hammer it would make the gun go a little faster, thats the only thing i could think of.

any sugestions??

One time i hit someone so many times with my a-5, he woke up dead the next day?

Yes dont void your warantee. Unless you have a CNC Lathe there with a red hot power tube to take all the measurements and load that into the computer. I'd stick to something simpler such as Sight Rails or Drop Forwards maybee a cool MILSIM like shroud.

if you lighten the hammer, it will require a stiffer spring to reach proper muzzle velocity as the reduction in mass = reduction in energy.

make sure its not a hardened hammer... if it is you wont be able to drill it without carbide drills.

And unnessicary.  Way to alienate someone who agrees with you man.  And since you are such a professional and expert on the subject you NEED no one to add weight to your statements I see.  I wouldn't expect him to back you up when you need it man, way to go.

Word of advice, try not to insult or tick-off everyone you meet, you just may make a friend or two somewhere down the road and somewhere down the road you just may need one.

Never fear things that go bump in the night.

If it means you harm it will stalk you silently.

I tried.

I guess others aren't so impressed.

I was reinforcing the point that lightening the hammer will require a heavier spring because it won't have enough momentum to hit the valve with enough force to get the velocity you need.  It's not a speculation, its a fact.

Well, You'd think that the avatars would give it away that we're not all the same people, but whatever. The guy has shown his absolute inability to choke down his pride and swallow scientifically proven facts in other parts of the forum. So I don't expect a whole lot out of him on any level.

And since when did any of us need others to back us up on here? I'm pretty sure that Mack, Snake6, Us 3 and anyone else with half a brain are usually in complete agreement when technical issues come up.

No need to get ahead of yourself. You are not infallible.

I lawled!

I've never though myself infallible there rvieira, for example, I totally mis-called an A-5 flatline question with regards to putting it on a pro-series marker. However, what people such as myself tend to do is we make sure to educate ourselves as much as possible in the particular area of interest that we hold dear.

I'd never compare myself to a great man like Tom Kaye, but what he did to advance the scientific understanding of how markers operate and what factors truly affect the flight of a paintball is what people such as myself, DeTrevni, Yomillio, Mack, and many others on this forum do ourselves on a much smaller scale. We educate ourselves by following in the footsteps of giants to attempt to learn from them and in turn, educate those around us. I'm certainly not infallible, but I do have a much greater base of knowledge when it comes to paintball than the majority of those who participate in this forum.

Not to get off the gotten off topic. But technically you wouldnt have to get a heavier hammer spring if you lightened the valve spring.

You would however need to get a reg and a volumizer. It would pretty much be a homemade Low Pressure Kit.

This would require that you know the weight of both the spring and the hammer of a LPK, or skillz in the physicz.
