    Posted: 18 October 2007 at 2:54am
Im thinking about buying a palmers verticle reg for my a-5 and i saw sum1 selling this one. It attached into the grip of his tippmann98. He told me it is a palmers but he cannot remove the stabilizer from that part attached to it.Can the reg come off of that piece attached to it? Will this reg fit my a-5?

It is supposed to come off unless the guy bonded them together with loctite. It should fit the A-5

Now this boggles me, how can you type everything with decent literacy, but still manage to write "sum1?"

Anyway, there's two possibilities that I see, It's thread locked somehow or it's cross threaded. If it's cross threaded, you're effed and wasted money, should you purchase it. If it's thread locked, either by Lock-Tite or some other material, you can remove it and successfully use it with the A-5. It's a gamble, and I wouldn't buy it unless it was a steal.

Tourque! Unless you feel like it is going to break, in which case you could use some WD-40 (WHICH YOU CANNOT LEAVE ON A REG, ESPICALLY AROUND A SEAL!) or something that eats loc-tite.

If you feel you need assistance, use a STRAP wrench. A pair of pliers would work, but think of the poor regulator...

If it's red or, god forbid, heavy duty green locktite, you can heat the ASA portion of the Vertical Adapter with a propane torch to loosen the lock-tite. Otherwise, use a heavily padded rubber-pad vise to hold the reg in place, take a 2ft long piece of metal pipe that will fit over the transfer tube of the vertical adapter, and learn the simple Euclidean law of leverage.

I was going to say get it and have a professional handle the removal, but then I noticed the macroline attachment on the Stabilizer. The original fitting was not the macroline attachment, the owner took off the original fitting and *may* have compromised the Stabilizer (in other words broke it)--you can't tell by looking at it--you aren't supposed to change the fittings on the Palmer Stabilizer, only add to whatever is there (unless you want to add a gauge).

Maybe if you do buy it, contact the Palmer Pursuit guys and ask them what they think of the glue and the macroline fitting, if it is okay. Also maybe ask if you can send it in to them for fixin'.

Uhm.... It's a standardized NPT fitting dude. When you get a stab from Glen and Co. you usually don't get ANY fittings on them. Yes, they tend to use steel-braided hose at palmers pursuit, but that is because they still run most of their marker mechanics based upon CO2 and not HPA as a primary gas source. Hence, they use a 90* NPT steel-braid fitting. Changing a fitting out on a reg isn't going to do anything bad to it. The only thing you can do as far as swapping out parts is to throw the wrong piston or spring pack into it. The day Glen builds something that you can screw up that easily is the day that PPS closes their doors.

I'm sure that heating a reg with a blow torch will do wonders for the internal o-rings.

Note, I said use a torch sparingly on the Vertical Adapter, not on the reg itself. Read the post smart ass.
