Whats some good country music? Artist Name/Albums name would be appreciated.

Also, please don't recommend something to horribly hillbilly, I'm trying to get interested in this Genre.

Country-

Hank Williams (The original, not Jr. or HWIII)
Steve Earle
Johnny Cash

There's also Alt-Country like:
Drag The River
Lucero

Those are on the top of my list. Some other bands/musicians that are usually considered to be more 'folk' than country but are still good:

William Elliott Whitmore
Gillian Welch
Old Crow Medicine Show
The Avett Brothers

I'm still partial to old Reba - but that style is quite different from modern country.  Not to mention that Reba is kind of chick music.  Good stuff, though.

I'm going to see Emerson Drive tonight on campus.  I'm not a huge fan, but the song Moments isn't..  terrible.

If you want stuff that's closer to Bluegrass, check out Ricky Skaggs. My dad has his CD History of the Future and I really enjoy it (in moderation). Lots of talent.

The Avett Brothers are great, but they are bluegrass.

Country music is terrible on the whole, don't get sucked in. It's mostly middle aged men singing about trucks and how their woman left them in an annoying hick accent.

Or if it's a female singer, she's most likely singing about killing her husband.

Brooks and Dunn, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks.

Some of Toby Kieths old stuff (mid 1990's) is good too. His new stuff is "GO 'MERICA KILL KILL KILL" type music.

How could I forget Brooks and Dunn? And a well made point in reference to Toby Keith.
