    Posted: 09 November 2007 at 12:39am

Here is my 98C.

Tippmann 98 Custom, 12 inch JnJ Ceramic Barrel, Rufus Dawg Wicked Bolt and Double Trigger, Tapco 6 Position Stock, ViewLoader hopper, Shocktech #5 drop forward and ASA adapter, Tippmann Expansion Chamber and Vertical Adapter.Tippmann 98 Custom

I originally painted it chrome, but the paint was the worst paint I have ever used. It melted when the Tippmann oil got on it while I was reassembling the gun.

Now its OD and some lighter green, which looks **edited**ty cause I havent bothered to grind the old chrome crap off. I was a bit dissapointed with the rufus dawg kit. just a bunch of plastic junk. Next round I will be replacing the trigger with a metal one. Also I will be looking into a regulator and probably trying to mount it in a picatinny flashlight mount on the barrel. I doubt I'll spring for a hand gaurd, but I have come across a flash ligth mount that also has three picatinny rails. One on each side and one on the bottom. That set up would be fine for me. Also I am looking into a Q Loader system but the E chamber has stolen the OEM Q Loader mounting spot so i may have to go with another moutning option. I would like to find an all metal power tube and lighten the rear hammer. I like CO2 for now. I may install a response trigger but I dont have any pressing need to shot fast witht his gun. Cosmetically I want a picatinny sight rail and M16/AR15 carry handle or red dot sight. Also I guess I need to strip her down adn clean all the crap paint off and repaint.

Sorry bout the pic quality, in a drunken stupor I launched my digi-camera off my desk and now its a bit off. Hence the orange line across the pic.

looks pretty good all things said. i play with my tank all goofy like that on one of my guns. However, i turn my whole drop around instead of just the asa, i think it looks a lot better that way.

Looks good, but I've never been a fan of the Hawaiian style ASA.

forget about turning this and that around, just get a remote and a small sports backpack or a holdster for the tank. i actually made my holdster myself. it works a lot better that carrying the extra weight

yeah i have a remote and tank pack but I use it with my autococker. I kindof like the weight on the gun for woodsball. The tank beign forward puts the center of balance at the front grip so i can shoulder it a bit quicker.

Hawaiian style, so thats what its called. Ive only seen it a few times and I liked it. I have short arms and I dont like the tank sittign in my elbow all the time.

Actually you can shoulder something quicker the further back the CG (Center of Gravity) is.  I personally prefer the CG to be over the rear grip, this means my right hand is almost solely used to hold the weight of the gun, while my left hand (on the front grip) can move the gun around with almost no effort at all.

For future reference, it's "holster."

Normally I'm not a spelling-nazi, but for some reason this specific misspelling really bugged me.

so i just got back last night from a 24 hour scenario where i beat the living hell out of that gun up there at the top of the board. It took a nice beating and kept on shooting... although very slowly. I think i defn. want an electronic trigger i tied one out on an A5 and it was beast. Also busted the lid off my hopper, had to clip my spring to lower my fps to meet the field regulations. Over all it did pretty well. I slid into a tree and used it to protect my face fromt the truck and it did its job there, then the sky opened up and dumped tons of water on us and i dried it out oiled it up and it still worked, while al the other guys with $1500 electric guns had to use rentals the rest of the time cause their boards shorted. accuracy and range could be better but it was about what i expected fromt eh 12 in. barrel. I think im going to turn the drop down around cause Pezzer is right its really front heavy after abotu 6 hours of lifting it to shoot and 12-24 i figure i might as well shoot the damn ground. last bit my ugly paint is now uglier so in need of full strip and repaint + im polishing the internal parts of the reciever when i finish that stuff.

sorry for the essay

I love the mod,  pretty good paint job too by the way. How did you get your CO2 tank like that and what do u need besides a drop forward?

ok so round three...

the gun was too heavy to play with at long games and too bulky to effectively move around with so i got rid of all the crap that caused the problme and did a total rehaul of the gun.

sorry for the crappy quality i broke my digital camera and took these with my phone. ill borrow a camera soon and take better quality pics and post them.

For now the changes or additions are as follows:

Outside:

  • took off all the milsim stuff for weight and comfort
  • added the cyclone loader
  •      Loader Mods:
  •      Tech T Vortex
  •      Tech T lightning Rod
  •      X-7 Piston Housing
  •      Wargear white premium flexi paddles
  • switched out the tippmann expansion chamber for a WGP Autococker Trilogy gas through front grip.
  • Rufus dawg double trigger and gaurd were reinstalled

Inside:

  • Removed the trigger return spring so now trigger is super light
  • DOP proSeal aluminum power tube
  • Shocktech Superfly front bolt
  • DOP rear velocity adjust
  • (WAS e trigger has been on the gun for a while now)
  • I ported the vertical adapter
  • I modified the valve to flow better forward and rear ( at least I hope)
  • I ground down the rear hammer ( went from ~127.8g to ~104.3g)
  • lighter hammer spring

I dont even know if it will shoot i have not tried since I finished this round of modifications. I have class tonight but if i have time i will buy some paint and pop a few rounds off.

My goal was to creat a home made lpk thats why i ground the hammer down and used the light spring, ported the valve and used the gas through grip instead of the e chamber.

Im hoping the grip will act like a vlume chamber and all the port work ive done will increase flow so that i can take advantage of lower pressures. I guess we will have to see I need a secondary reg and I want to convert to HPA eventually.
