    Posted: 22 November 2007 at 7:44pm

Can anyone tell me of any good reliable stubby barrels out there?
I find my APEX barrel too long and want to attach the tip to a short one.
I've searched a few sites online and came up with only a few.
I don't think they are 7/8" though...

To be able to attach the Apex to a barrel, it has to be no more than a certain outer diameter, yes? 7/8" I've read.
Oh, and my budget is around $30 for the barrel.

If all else fails and I can't find a barrel or the sort, I'm just probably going to take my stock A5 barrel and cut it down to size. I know that isn't the brightest idea but since I'm mostly going to be using the APEX accuracy won't be much affected.

Any and all help would be much appreciated.
I currently run an A5/APEX/Palmers Stab/MP5 Sliding Stock/Remote.
Here's a pic.
I love it. Just can't dish out the $$$ to fully Milsim it.  :(

Oh, can someone also link me to the site where it shows how to DIY an Apex Adapter? Had it faved, but drive crashed.
Thank you.

i copyed it from some where....

Quote its real easy.
Basically I dremelled out the back step/lip of the APEX and it fits perfectly
on the end of the Opsgear barrel - no machining - totally secure
pic 1

Its a push fit and solid ... To be extra secure you could run a single turn of
3/4" electrical tape around the muzzle for the APEX to grip.

You can turn the APEX for corner shots with this method but Im not arsed about that,
just the extended range

The first barrel I fixed it on McGyver style. Opsgear standard barrel, for that I
simply wrapped a few layers of 3/4" tape around the muzzle and bingo - instant adapter!
No dremelling, wont turn for corner shots tho as the tape grips.

hope this is helpful.

It does help, but I don't want to have to cut into the APEX tip iteself.
There was another DIY out there that involved PVC piping...
Thanks for the help.

Another option would be cutting down the stock barrel.
Pumpker'd; (V.) When a pump player runs up and shoots you at point blank range because you thought 20bps made you good.

I already noted that as a last resort option in my first post.
Thanks for trying though.
I'm already considering cutting it down today as I've already bought some very thin-alled pvc-like tubing.
I've already tried making an adapter yesturday with great success.
One using 1inch of 3/4" Airline Tubing.
The other using the thin pvc tubing will be done today.
