Hey im pretty new to paintball and ive been lookin to buy a drop forward for my 98. Do i need to buy a new hose or anything like that and how do i install the drop forward?

Whether or not the stock hose will work depends on the drop forward you get.

The installation of the drop forward is simple.  Remove the stock ASA and attach the drop at the same location.

Since you said that you are new, I'm going to suggest playing with the marker "as is" for a while before you purchase any upgrades.  Nothing sucks worse than spending money on upgrades that you end up not using.

Also, the first upgrade most people here will recommend for a 98 is a new barrel.  For new players, this generally provides the most return on investment out on the field.

ya i already got a 14" J&J . . so i unscrew the ASA from the hose and just bolt the new 1 on?

Shocktech has some nice drops on clearance. Anyway, depending on the size drop you get, you may need to get a new hose. ST drops tend to be slightly less of a drop than others and may allow you to keep the original hose. Regardless, it's almost impossible to tell which length you need before actually putting the drop on the marker.
