So, I am finally deciding to upgrade from my 512mb RAM.  I looked around a little bit and came across these two very low priced sales.  Has anyone ever heard of either company?  Also, does it matter that I have a laptop or is all RAM compatible with any type of computer?

Well, after looking around a bit more, I have come to the conclusion that it does matter which type of computer one has.  So, can anyone tell me if either of the two above will work in a laptop?

G-SKill and OCZ both make good ram, I would go with the OCZ because of the timings in this case. CAS latency of 4 is the way to go.

Neither of these sticks will work in a laptop, you need laptop ram. If you post the make and model of your laptop  I could give you suggestions.

Cause I still have a 939 mobo that takes DDR, and I'd really like 2 gigs, but it would cost me about $100. I mean I'm sure it's completely fair, I'm just complaining cause I'm poor.

Um, you could upgrade to a motherboard that supports DDR2-800 for 75-100 now... If you look around you can get DDR2-667 fro $20 a gig.

Hysteria, your computer supports DDR400 PC3200 RAM. It supports up to 2 gigs of siad ram in 2 dimm slots. This is the ram I would suggest. It is not required that you take your old ram out (if your ram comes in a single 512 module, however if it comes in 2x256 you will have to lose them) if you plan on only getting a gig.

I only plan on getting about a gig now, but would you suggest upgrading my mobo to one that supports DDR2?  The only reason I am upgrading period is because editing in PS has become a pain and I may pick up WoW.  As such, I don't really have a reason to get two gigs, but that is not to say I won't need more in a year or two.

On a laptop it's essentially impossible to upgrade your motherboard. That was directed at me. If you get that 1 gig stick though, that would be nice, because then if you wanted another gig down the road, you could buy another of the same thing and have 2. I have 2x512 right now, so I'd either have to run 4 sticks of 512 and cut my timings, or buy 2X1GB sticks and forget the others. Your laptop will only have 2 ram slots though.

I know it was directed at you, hence why I asked if I should too.

I was also looking at the costs of RAM - DDR is usually over twice as expensive as DDR2 and from what I have seen DDR2 is better.  Though either way I guess it doesn't matter since I can't upgrade anyway.
