I'm fairly new to this but over the weekend I played with my A-5 w/ Response trigger and the rental balls they gave me at first keeps breaking. I believe it's breaking in the chamber before the barrel, because my cyclone feeder was filled with paint. The manager at this paintball field says it's my gun. Stating that the A-5 cyclone feeder is notorious for breaking paint and I should junk my gun. I think he's bull**edited** because when I asked him if he had anyother paint he gave me to other color balls and they worked fine. I dont remember the brand, but i believe the box said pro paint, but the individual bags in the box said Zap and it was blue. Is it my gun or the balls? Because the yellow/green balls kept breaking. Another occasion i used some silver balls from the same place and they worked fine. Velocity was around 260 - 270 when I played. It was cold day aswell.

It is too bad that some players come across such ignorance and what appears to be hostility. The A-5's noteriety was deserved at first, but Tippmann corrected the problem years ago. Yes, it's possible for the cyclone feeder to be a blender. If you use better quality paint it shouldn't be a problem.

Never had a break in the cyclone with anything at the level of blaze or RPS premium. Make sure you dont buy cheap paint and you will be fine.

I notice my 98 doing the same thing in cold weather when using CO2. It does sound like the balls, but you may want to consider renting an HPA tank and seeing if it still happens. When setting mine up, it was really cold and I kept just blending balls using CO2. I dont have an HPA tank, but rented one this past weekend from the field we played at and didnt have any problems at all with the cyclone. I was getting some ball breakage, but more in the barrel than the feeder. At one point, I ran out of compressed air in the middle of a game and borrowed my brother in laws CO2 tank. I got about 20-30 shots off before my gun started blending again. I got out of the game, went back to the pro shop, got the HPA tank filled and didnt have a single problem for the rest of the day. |

If you want you could always buy a rubber paddle for the cyclone feeder. Ive seen them on sites for like 20$. Its better then the plastic paddle because it flexs and wont break brittle paint. Just a thought.
