    Posted: 26 March 2008 at 10:51am
Hi all! Im new here and just getting back into the paintball world. Been
out of it for some 6 years. Last time I played was with a 68 AutoMag w/
Compressed Air double trigger, Smarts Parts All American barrel and
motorzied Viewloader. My first gun was a Tippy Prolite.

So Im looking to get an A5. Plan on running Compressed air again, my
tank is outdated, so i need to get a new one(any recomendations?) And
Im looking to get it with a Response Trigger. I dont think i need the
Etrigger. I just plan on playing some WoodsBall, no speedball.

One question i have is about the RT. Do most people use a single trigger
with it or single. Is it tunable and is it easy to to do?

Hey Lawndart....I just registered too. I just bought an A-5 R/T myself and I really like it. The only other thing it has is a 14" Zero Gravity barrel. I was looking into a double trigger but I think it's just a personal preference if anything. The single trigger works and feels great. I plan on going to compressed air also. The next upgrades are the JCS Red Hot Power Tube, Tech T Cyclone Exhaust Piston, and the Tech T Vortex Cyclone mod. All of this should run about another $100 or so. Hope you find what you're looking for, I'm just here to tell you that the A-5 R/T is a great woodsball marker.

Don't hijack threads.

It is easy to tune with a single trigger, however with the double trigger there is much more slop so it will be harder to find the "sweet spot". I would suggest using a single trigger unless you plan on doing some custom work to overcome the trigger slop.

Thanks Snake,
I was just thinking of the double trigger for the A5 cause my old AutoMag had it...come to think of it it's trigger was a bit sloppy.   I should just  try the single trigger to begin with.

I read somewhere that RT's might not be allowed on some fields?  Please correct me if Im wrong.  Jeeze the last time i played the AutoMag RT was just coming out!

It is true that R/T's are not allowed on some fields. Some insurance policies that fields have consider R/T's full auto and therefore they are banned. This is a small minority though but I would suggest cecking with your local fields to be certain. R/T's are not allowed at all on the tournement scene so if you plan on getting into that area I would suggest a different marker entirely.

Take your own advice, try the single trigger first.  For me, the double was a bit easier to "sweet spot", but I know that many would disagree with me.  Try the stock setup first, then try the double if you're so inclined...

Gave up my A5 for an Automag...  Coincidence?

As far as the tank goes, if you still have it, you could always get it hydro'd and save yourself some cash...  For me, CO2 seemed to work much better in my A5 than compressed air...  I bought my A5 in 2002 though, so things may be different now...

I prefer HPA on mine.  A good one to get is Crossfire or Pure Energy.  The Crossfire is supposed to have a faster recharge so it can keep up with rapid fire better and both are about the same price.  Just make sure you get the high pressure reg.  www.actionvillage.com has them at very good prices.  As far as the advice above all of the internals of the A5 (excluding the ratchet) should be kept stock.  They work the best with Tippmanns.  The Vortex is a good idea if you dont want to chance the ratchet breaking.  But I also agree with the above.  make sure the RT is legal where you play.  Thats one of many reasons I prefer the egrip to the RT.  You can change it to suit the field.

*edit* also I only play woodsball as well and I have even seen some of those fields not allow RT because it is too much like full auto.

Well today I'll be buying a VERY slighty used, if not new A% from a Sherrif
budy of mine. I knew he bought one a year or so ago and he's the type of
guy that buys bling-y things and never use them...he came into work and
I offered him $150. I'll let ya's all know how the transaction went. From
what I understand it's a stock A5 with no RT or Etrigger.
