I'm almost finished with the guitar.  The only things left on my list are to rout for the humbuckers, drill the bridge and trapeze holes, paint, and install electronics.  Thought you guys might like to see it.

Really nice.

Are you painting or staining?

I would stain (or clearcoat) with a nice dark redish colour but that's just me.

Looks almost classical, I really like how it turned out.

A stain would be classy. It would make sense with the violin-esque holes you put in.

Very cool! Do you have another guitar so you can compare how it plays/sounds?

Looks good. I agree that staining it would look nice.

Nice, is the truss rod in?
Imagine there’s a picture of your favourite thing here.

Yes it will be stained.  Currently I'm trying to figure out the best way to applicate it.  I've found the color I want, Mandarin Orange, but I can't find it as a stain in aerosol form.  I could brush it on but I don't think it would look as good.

Why? And if not, try and get your hands on an airbrush

Choop, from what I gather guitar stains are commonly applied with a sponge or a rag when not being mass produced.  I plan to do that on a spare piece of maple that I cut off to get the right finish first.

Johnny, the truss rod is in.

For the stain, you need a shop rag or something. Put the stain on the rag and then wipe it on in one direction. Thats how I did my plaque.

Note: The reason you can see the little block of wood holding the horns is because I took the pic kind of close and under it.

But I put it on a rag and just wiped it onto the wood. It will soak up some so stain it, let it dry and see how you like it if you want it darker do it some more.

I'm really happy with the way the color came out on mine, the wood is Oak if you're wondering.

Just curious, why you chose to mount a 2 (maybe 3) point rack?

And sweet job on the guitar, I kinda did the same thing once, I made a ukulele out of a kleenex box and  rubber bands.   Sounded sick.
