Pretty much all markers are good for woodsball. Once you play for awile, you will learn your style of play which will help you decide which marker purchase. Other factors will be your wallet and what options you want or may want in the future. Make sure that whatever marker you purchase will have the ability to grow with your use. By the same token, don't dump a ton of money down on a marker that you later realize is way more gun than you need for your usage.

I really like my A5. I find it a lot more comfertable then the 98c.

It's a good, sturdy gun and it comes with the Cyclone so you don't have to confront the hassle of installation. It also fits a million billion upgrades, mods, and cosmeti kits.

Adding on to what he said, you might want to play a few games with a basic rental marker, see what that does for you, how you play, how you want to play, and decide from there.

^ Agreed.  I love the A5 but some people swear by the 98c.  And I now swear by the autocockers such as the trilogy now.  its all prefference and most any marker will get the job done anywhere.  With enough imagination you can also turn basically any marker into a milsim one too.

I have a 98c and it's the shizz! But, it's the only marker I've ever owned. Hell, I didn't need to own anything else 'cause I 'learned' my weapon. Ever hear of the Marine Rifle Creed? It's pretty much how I care for this marker.

On the flip side, I've handled an A5 a few times over the years and I like it too. It's a tough rigid gun, but I don't know, I tend to pound my 98 into the earth when I play and wonder when I finally get this A5(which I've been bidding on for days and losing ) if it'll endure similar punishment. I think it'll handle me ok.

I have a 98c and an A-5. If you're gonna spend money buy the a-5. It's basically a slightly upgraded 98c (cyclone feed, more customizations, etc.). A-5 has the best flatline as well

i have a 98c and im starting to mod it now after a year and a half of play.
i got to learn my gun and how i play ball with it and thats how im
deciding which upgrade to get. i say a 98c is a good starter gun but if
your serious to play id say take an A5. it has more upgrades to it and 98c
parts are starting to get hard to find.

As to whether or not the A5 can take the same pounding as a 98c, yes it can.  I have put mine through more punishment than any marker should have to go through and its still pushing on nicely.

I'm probably gonna have to say the best woodsball gun would probably be a DM8 or an Ego 8.

yeah, just go rhino line or line-x an Ego, that would dominate. seriously thinking about doing that though, you would need the most precise and patient liner-guy ever. the result would be well worth it.

the A-5 is in my oppinion a lot better than the 98c. but its what you handle better. if you like a gun stick with it and make upgrades as needed. you do not want a gun that you can not stand messing with. I have both a 98c and A-5, i got the 98c first and i had that for about a year or so and than got an A-5, Now ever sicne i got the A-5 i haven't really touched my 98c. But like i said it is what you are confortable handling and what fits your style better.
