Then I took one of the brillo pad things (I used a plasticy one not metal but metal can be used too i believe) and some comet cleaner (the powder that is really cheap)

Take the 2 halves and warm water then put comet on the insides.  scrub them until the excess paint is off of the inside.  Dont take any metal off though.  Then rince them well and spray WD-40 in to take out anything that could cause micro abbrasions. oil it up normally, reassemble and have fun.  it takes some patience but it was easy.

It's really easy to do. I used Scotch Brite pads, mother's aluminum polish then Teflon Auto polish. Just trying something new. I only polish where parts are moving though. It just doesn't make sense to polish behind the power tube.

wipe it clean and then use the hoppes 9 oil to relube it up.  The wd40 just removes the impurities and cleans it up well.
