soon i'm going to be getting an A-5, and the first upgrade i'm looking to get is a new barrel. I've heard about hammerhead barrels and their supposed to be extremely accurate. But I've also heard that because of their rifling the ball spreads out and the wind can greatly affect the path of the paintball. i'd be fine getting another type of barrel, i'm just looking for something thats really accurate.

the rifling doesn't affect the paintball at all, because its a liquid filled sphere.

If you have a lot of money to spend, get a barrel kit, if not, either get a J&J or Lapco Bigshot, 12 inches is a good size for a barrel by the way.

Rifling effects a paintball, but generally not in a good way. It can weaken the shell and cause it to break inside the barrel or cause the ball to go off course on what may have otherwise been a good shot. The JJ and the Bigshot are the two most recomended barrels for replacing the stock barrel.

I have a hammerhead and its great. The only prob is that they are always out of stock.

so is getting a hammerhead worth it(their pricey)? i played a guy with one today and he said it was really good... i didnt get a chance to shoot it though.... he didnt have to shoot alot to get someone

Its definately not worth it. the rifling is all hype, buy a good barrel kit, or if you don't have that much to spend get a J&J, 12-14inch.

i'm not sure if its all hype or not.... most people who don't have these barrels say its hype.... but the people that actually have them say its the best barrel they've ever owned...

Read through all the barrel posts here.  You won't find too many raving about the Hammerhead barrels.  We rave about the J & J and Lapco barrels because most people here own and have experience with them.  If you want to follow the hype of the few, by all means spend your hard earned (or parent-given) cash and buy a Hammerhead.  If you want the same performance for significantly less, buy and J & J or Lapco barrel (kit).

i own a hammerhead and ive been VERY pleased...100 bucks is pricey but ive had nothing but good things to say about it
