Canoeing

We just got back from canoeing. Great trip in southern Missouri. Here are some pictures. (I have many pictures I can't show because of my "natural" proclivities.)

Behind me here is Devil's Well, path to the largest underground lake in the midwest. It's larger than a football field and if you fell in the very narrow hole that leads to it you'd quickly die of hypothermia. I've also been in the cave where the water later springs up a mile away.

I think we need to plan a forum canoe trip. We can all meet up, camp, and float the rivers.

where exactly is this?  im looking for a good place to canoe/camp

I like the Jack's Fork and Current rivers that flow through Eminence, MO. Very nice place. I've been going there for a very long time and of all the rivers I've been to it's my favorite. Nice, easy floats, great views, and nice people.

There are some nice places to stop on those rivers for springs and caves, but it's hard to say just where. I know them by sight. On the Jack's Fork river I like the Alley Spring to Two Rivers trip, and on the current you get some very nice stops on the Aker's Ferry to Round Spring trip.

I highly recommend renting from Harvey's out of Alley Spring. The campground by them is by far better than any other I've been to in the area, and the people are great. I had a bad experience this last time with another company and went right back to Harvey's rental.

I'm about five hours from there myself. Worth the trip.

I just got back from conoeing today...  In southern Missouri...  in a Spring-Fed river...  Are you me?

Class 2/3 are even more fun when your bowman won't talk to you, and won't do any kind of steering, so your paddling blind until the last second. Also fun when they won't exert themselves. My best trip thus far was last summer, about 21 days down the Allanwater in northern ontario. 'twas a glorious time.

Well yeah, thats how things should be. It was just a few days where he wasn't all there.
