Long story short...

I had a spleen (with tumors attached) in a bag filled with isopropyl alcohol.  This bag was ziplocked shut and then duct taped for added saftey.  The whole thing was then placed in a box in my trunk in the cargo net to keep it from from sliding and flipping over.

At some point in time the bag sprung a leak and leaked all of its delicious blood contents into the box which quickly became saturated and then transfered itself into my trunks carpet.

Any suggestions for how to get the odor out?

1) burn it?

2) wet/dry vac all the liquid out, shampoo the carpit, vac it out again.

dump a bottle of apple scented dish soap down into the spare tire well.

3) pull all carpet, bring it to a laundry mat. bleach all of the sheet metal.

4) same as 3 but burn carpet and replace after bleaching sheet metal.

wth was a spleen doing in your trunk? be careful of biohazard crap.

Put a dead hooker in there, that should even it out.

What he said...

But I think the burning question here is why did you have a spleen in your trunk? Was it yours?
This is easily the strangest thing I've heard all week.

It was removed via a splenectomy because of the large tumors growing on it.  I am an avid collector of body organs that I use for my own personal studying.

Again, was it your spleen? If not, how did you get your hands on it? I would not have been able to keep my wisdom teeth if my father didn't know the oral surgeon, so I'm sure you must have connections. Remove the carper if at all possible. Lemon juice seems to kill a lot of bad odors, wipe down the sheet-metal with that. Hydrogen peroxide will react with most organic matter and kill odor-causing bacteria, maybe do that first. For the Carpet, Less-toil(sp?) seems to be one of the better solvents for crap like that, plus it covers bad odors well.  If it comes down to it, most dead things will get to a point beyond the ability to smell bad. Time ends all things, even terrible odors. If any of the above methods don't work, eventually all the bits will totally decompose and stop smelling bad.

Spleens suck.

Mine ruptured a few years ago.

You're a veterinarian?  I always thought you were way younger for some reason.
