    Posted: 05 August 2008 at 10:44am
So, my new Cyclone feed is on its way. I was looking at the Mod thread and the hardware where the cyclone feed hooks up.

What exactly am I filing down? Can I use the original feed tube as a stencil?

Any help would be great - I can't wait to put this thing to use on Saturday!

Ummm. They are now making a Cyclone that doesnt have to be modded, it is made for the AB. Check the sticky above. If the one you got is for the 98, you will see pretty quickly what has to be done. Basically the part of the feeder that meets the right half of the marker has to be dremeled/filed into a V shape to fit the body. When you get it check it out and you will see. If you have questions, "search" it and I beleive there is a thread with pics.

Yea - It's impossible to find so I went this route. I asked tippmann for a online store and they didn't have any immediate answers.

No worries, you should have no problems. I have looked at the pics before on how to do it and really, a 10 yr old could handle it.

Will the file work just fine or is a dremel the best tool for the job?

It is a pretty small area, so a fille will work fine.

I just got mine in the mail today, and it says it only for the 98 custom, but I
had to do no filing. So you should be fine

It probably will fit, but may not line up correctly. Post up a pic of the fit between the feedneck and the receiver.

Just completed the upgrade - Works great - lacks a bit of accuracy though.

There seems to be too much of the tube that attaches to the Power tube. Does it make sense to trim it?

Also - I was pretty close to taking out too much of the plastic. Can I use epoxy to extend?

Full auto was pretty sweet - it kept pace with the marker.

I assume you are talking about the plastic tube attaching between the fitting on the right side of the receiver to the fitting on the Cylcone?? If so, yes, you can trim the tube so that it doesn't kink up. Just make sure you don't trim too much.

Also - I was pretty close to taking out too much of the plastic. Can I use epoxy to extend? As long as you aren't having issues with the balls hanging up or anything, you will be fine.

Stock, for right now. If I can find an apex at a shop locally this week or at the field I am playing at, I'll buy it.

As far as the lip, paintballs aren't getting hung up.    Actually the shots were all within the 2 ' by 3' sheet of plywood I was shooting at from about 30yds. Fairly accurate considering its a marker - not a rifle. The balls were cheap ones - Demon or diablo? No Chops on full auto.

Does the cyclone take any velocity off the shot or is it using waste gas?

Overall very pleased with my first mod!

To be blunt, the stock barrels pretty much suck. If you want accuracy look into J&J or Lapco. You will have to do a tape mod for the barrel gaurd to fit tight.

Apex barrels are for increasing range, but you will lose accuracy. Unfortunately in paintball, you can't have both. There are tons of threads about this if you want a better explanation.

If you do have your heart set on one though, check out www.paintball-discounters.com. They currently have the Apex barrels on sale for pretty cheap. I can almost guarantee they will be cheaper than your local shop.

The Cyclone is operated on excess gas, so it should not reduce the velocity. If it does, just turn your FVA up.
