Has anyone watched paintball in HDTV? I'm just wondering if it makes it any better of a spectator sport. I'm watching xtreme pb on tv and while coverage is becoming very honed it's still impossible to see the paint in standard def. Hat's off to the guys walking off immediately after being hit(instinctively). also years ago my competative drill competition idea was lol'd at but I see they are doing it now =) Edited by Lightningbolt - 05 August 2008 at 4:50pm |

I would imagine the paint would still be moving too fast for HD camera frame rates to catch the paint. I'm assuming that's the problem with SD not being able to show paint well, and I can't see HD solving that problem with something that small moving that fast.
Even golf it's hard to see the ball sometimes. Edit: It's on now? What channel? Edited by ThatGuitarGuy - 05 August 2008 at 4:57pm |

My HV20 was able to catch the paint flying by, but only as orange dots that would appear and disappear almost instantly. It really gave a good perspective on how much paint was being used, but you wouldn't really follow the paint. http://files.filefront.com/BeefyMax1wmv/;11370459;/fileinfo. html You can tell that paint is at least flying by in that clip, and when the camera is behind the guy shooting, it's not hard at all to follow the paint. And FSN/whatever other networks put PB on tv don't want to show the cheating going on. The people you see walking off are just the ones that KNEW they couldn't get away with it. |

The framerate of HD and SD are the same... They are both equally capable of filming the paint or not, HD would just be clearer.

Alot of pro-teams, at least I KNOW the other XO teams, use dark shelled paint, so you wouldn't be able to see it on TV.

I, for one, can't wait until they have 3D scanners at the fields, so we can watch individual shots in slow motion.
