I am thinking about purchasing a 98C Pro with an expansion chamber and possibly cyclone feed. Is this a worthwhile purchase. I also need some ideas on which expansion chamber to buy and some good barrel options.

OK well as far as the expansion chamber goes it is usually better to buy a stabilizer. it works with both CO2 and HPA so if you ever switch you can. If you are looking at getting a 98 with the cyclone, why not just get an A5? Just wondering. If you like the feel better then that is the one you want. As far as the barrel goes J&J and Lapco both make amazing barrels and they are well priced. I prefer J&J for the design and because it can shoot through a break easier.

[QUOTE=thejudge]If you are looking at getting a 98 with the cyclone, why not just get an A5? QUOTE] Agreed. For the price of a 98 + Cyclone, you basically can have an A5 that already comes with it. For that matter if you are looking at going the Milsim route, look at the Alpha Black. Same internals as the 98 for less money. |

I got a 16 inch linear barrel for my 98 custom and its perfect, more than twenty inches on your barrel is a bit exesive.I also agree that if you get a cyclone for the 98 you may as well get an A5.

Um, more than a 12"-14" barrel is a bit excessive. |

And on top of that, stay away from any barrels made by Tippmann. I can't imagine the ones made with Hammerhead would be all too bad but I'd still stick with the classic choices - Lapco Bigshot or J&J Ceramic. |

How bout you just get and electronic hopper and HPA.
PMI makes a $50 HPA tank, and HPA is much more accurate than co2. Electronic hopper doesn't use your air and doesn't need any installation. Barrel, just listen to those guys. But I hear CP also makes a good barrel. If you just want a 98 then don't get the pro, not worth the money. Edited by WrongFoot - 29 August 2008 at 9:27pm |
