    Posted: 02 September 2008 at 10:30pm
second time out with New Tippmann A-5 and the gun shot 4 times then blew out of the back because the end cap broke sending the guide pin and end cap flying not to be found...

How often does this happen? anyone else have this experience?
thanks

Never had it happen on mine and I have shot over 10000 rounds thru it. I had a friend that his did it, so we put a o-ring on the drive spring just like on a 98 and it has not done it since.

Yeah i guess it happens when the ring in the end cap is not installed correctly as well. that's what tippmann service said. they also said that they redesigned the end cap due to this problem... so yeah its no fun.

That they did, the snap ring groove was redesigned fairly early after the A5 came out. I guess you had an older model.

Theyll replace it for free.

It happened to my A-5 a few months ago, I bought it in early 2002.  The snap ring groove wore to a taper and would blow out again after only a few shots.  Ticked me off because I didn't want to miss any games so I pulled the sling swival off, drilled a hole in the back end and reversed it in the marker (snap ring on the outside).  Now it can't blow out.  I've since made a new one out of a piece of steel and attached a swivel to it.  Since it now sits on a lip it can't come out the back.  I don't know why tippmann designed it the way they did.  It works just as well with the snap ring on the outside.

tippmann has, hands down the best customer service i've personally seen with a company of any kind.
