So, here's the situation. I, if I EVER decide to get started, want to build up an electro blow-back speedball paint-flinger. Why? For two reasons. The first being that blowbacks have tend to lost credibility on the field. I want to represent the blowback "community" with a great setup. The second reason is blowbacks come cheap.
![]() Right now, my two top choices are the 2K3 Spyder Imagine and the E-Gripped Tippmann A-5. Which would you expect less on a speedball field? I like the Tippy because the A-5 was the first marker I really fell in love with. Besides, I've always found Tippies are more fun to work with. I like the 2K3 Imagine because it's the pinnacle of the "Spydery" generation of Spyders. The forward angled sight-rail and the tubed body are what makes a Spyder a Spyder, and the new models seem to have lost that. They are also FAR cheaper and easier to work with than the Tippies. That and I've always liked Spyders. :) |

I always think woodsball when I see an A-5, so for sleeper, I would say A-5 vs Spyder. However, I think the ultimate sleeper would be taking an ABT and turning it into a speedball marker. |

Actually, the ultimate sleeper would be Stingray-based.
Edit: Of the choices offered however, I would take the Tippmann based on the fact that it looks less like a speedball marker. (I.e. it would be instantly recognizable as being out of place.) Edited by Mack - 16 September 2008 at 10:55am |

BLADE! Otherwise, the A-5. But the Cyclone will be an actual problem for speedball play. It's a huge target whenever you come out on the right side of the bunker. |

Personally, I'm leaning towards A-5 myself, but I have considered the problems of the Cyclone. I'd have to learn new firing angles to compensate, as it's even more extreme than the right feeds I've played with. I'd have to squeeze every advantage possible. But I think putting yourself at a disadvantage makes the game more fun. :) Well, since I don't compete for prizes (money, trophies, etc.) at least.

For that true sleeper go with a Tippmann Triumph. Ya nothing says bunkered like a "black and decker".

Well, the reason I'm primarily interested in the A-5 and the Imagine is because I know them. I know the 98 inside and out, and I've built a few from parts boxes I've got. I assume the A-5 isn't different enough to warrant challenge (I don't really want another 98 as opposed to the A-5, so that's why I'm set on the A-5). I also know Spyders very well. Not to mention, each has an entire universe of aftermarket parts dedicated to them. I want to pick up a marker and play with it during each stage of upgrading.
Markers like Triumphs, Raptors, Stingrays etc. are too parts-proprietary. Sure getting one of those running and running good would be fun, but that's just not something I'm looking to do right now. PS: I have a line on a Sandridge TF-5 'cocker. I may have to put my ub3r blowback on hold once again... Edited by DeTrevni - 16 September 2008 at 3:07pm |

In that case I go with the spyder its much lighter than the tippy. also try to make sure the outside casing is plastic too, for that added owned factor!

Meh. I'd have to carry too many pods to justify the drop in capacity. Say I carried a hopper and 4 pods into play. To have the same amount, I'd need to carry 8 Q-Pods in. Too much weight and not enough paint. But I DO like the Q-Loadar system.
Hm. Maybe Warp... |

^^^ True, and the pods dont fit so well into some harnesses. I don't get the warp drives. They look incredibly bulky to me. What would the possibility be of relocating the cocking mechanism and attempting to centerfeed the A-5? |

Warps are incredibly bulky, but they were designed to be compact, if you follow. They are placed (if it's mounted to the left) so if you are popping out of the right side of a bunker, there's no exposed hopper. Same if out the top. If you are snapping from the right, the system is force-fed, so simply rotate the marker 90*, still concealing your hopper. They are a great system!

eh on a different note I new this guy who did a bit of work on a cocker, put the pneumatics in what looks like a pump kit, the pump arm moves and such, but the actual gun is on psp ramp. talk about a sleeper... plus hes ordering the yakuza board... although the only downside is that that would take a lot of work for you, and he had a lot of problems with hoses breaking or parts malfunctioning and he says the timing is fairly difficult to do....but still, its soo cool.
