Hey guys, i want to buy my first very own marker, i am sick of using the rentals and using a different gun everywhere i go.
I have been looking at the Tippmann guns of course, hence why i am here. I really like the X-7 because of its customizability and it seems like a very durable gun. I preffer to play outdoors if anywhere. Money is not a big issue, of course, the more it is the longer it will take to get, but because of my parents, they will argue that i only need one gun. So. The one gun that i get will be my only gun for a very, and i mean very long time. Does the x-7 sound like something for me? I want a gun that is a sturdy good gun and i wont have to worry about replacing its parts often. If you have any other guns that you think might be more sutable, please tell me about them Thanks alot. |

All tippmanns are very durable.
The X7 is a good gun, it's basically an A-5 with fancy looks. (The internals of both guns are almost identical) However if you like having your marker look like a real gun then the X7 is your best shot. But if you just want a great marker then the A-5 is just as good, and durable. They both have a lot of potential when it comes to upgrades, but it comes down to your preference. Do you want a great marker that might not look the best? or a great marker that has great looks. Now tippmann is not your only option, and I'm sure that someone else will mention electro markers. But I'll leave them to tell you about it, for I do not have any experience with electro's. And welcome to the forum! Edited by K Hop - 29 August 2008 at 1:21pm |

I do not care how it looks, (aka - looking like a real gun) as long as it works well and does what its supposed to do.
I do need a gun that will last me a long time and that i wont get bored with, and im up for any options, but prefferably 400$ or under.... another question. is the spyder vs3 any good for woodsball or out door paintballing? cause its so shexy |

The X7 and A5 are essentially identical in operation. The only mechanical advantage the X7s have is that the Cyclone feed incorporates some of the lessons learned from the A5 version. If I wasn't interested in appearance, I would select the A5.

a5s are cheaper and there are some good shrouds out by ops gear that can make it look pretty good so my ad vice is go with the a5.

You can use any gun for woodsball.
The only true woodsball guns are tippmanns. And I mean true by they should only be used for woodsball. Some good guns out of the tippmann area. Dangerous Power G3(just above $400) Invert Mini((mid $300 area) Proto Rail($upper $200) I've shot all the guns but haven't played woodsball with them. I here the Rail is great for woodsball. Their all really light to. |

Used F8 is $300
Though, if you're on a budget, get a used F7, they're about $200 and its pretty much the same as an F8. |

well if you are looking into another kind of gun you also have to take a few other things intoconsideration. 1. do you have a mask. spending a lil extra for a nice comfy mask that doesnt fog is a must. 2 The guns you are looking at may require HPA and may not be able to use CO2. If that is the case you need to factor in a tank. Even if you hav to start with a steel 3000 psi tank you may still need something like it. And finally if you do get a speedball gun you also need a hopper. The hopper needs to be able to feed as fast as you will fire also. Just some stuff to chew on. Persoanlly my favorite guns out there right now are the Cocker Trilogy (actionvillage has the SFs for under 90 i think), A5/X7 (same diff with different external) and the mini/tm7 (same thing with diff external basically).

I've never really heard any good things about them that make them a good choice over another about the same price. I've never met someone that was satisfied with their Spyder (with the possible exception of you).
I've never been Impressed with a Spyder that I used/shot. |

dude what are you talkin about. there are alot of people out there that use tippmann for speed ball. look at how many people have ebolts. then you can add a dm5 board and have a really nice tippmann for speedball. plus what better than walkin onto a field with a tippmann and people think its easy to get you out bc it is a tippmann then you mow them down. its one of the best feelings i paintball |

I actually would suggest a Tippmann 98 or an Alpha BLack. Both are great and cost less than an A5 or an X7. All you'll need is a better barrel and a cyclone.

"A great player with a poor marker will beat, 99% of the time, a poor player with a great marker." This isn't to say a great marker doesn't help but simply put it all comes down to player skill. I've seen a single pumper take out four guys with Angels (back when Angels were considered one of the best markers out there). Whichever marker you buy keep in mind that it probably is going to be more capable of shotting your target than you will be. Next, Spyders are not that bad considering what you pay for them. I just got my son an MR1 this summer for his birthday and he loves it. It's reliable, worked flawlessly, and is easy to clean. Granted it takes a bit more work than my girlfriend's son's A5, but not by much. The markers I own are not Spyders but are Spyder-like based stacked tube blowbacks that share some common parts with Spyders and I've never had any problems with them. One is going on five years old and most folks think it's still brand new. You take care of your marker and it will work fine. Now, keep in mind with my style of play I'm not the type to shoot a ton of paint down range. I played an 8 hour big game here a couple weeks ago on 500 rounds of paint. Thus for me rate of fire isn't a big deal. The "Spyders" I have are not speed demons in the ROF catagory so if that's how you play they won't suit you as well as an electropneumatic marker would. I wrote a guide about buying your first marker and it's on my site (link in signature). It's just a general guide that's designed to help you make your own decision on what marker to buy based on your needs. Mostly common sense stuff but it's a good refresher on what to keep in mind when you're buying a new marker. |

If you want to go cheap and new, I actually like my friends VS1. Try it, it's
never had a problem. |
