I just purchased a used 98C pro locally and I'm having a problem where it will shoot 1 shot after a manual cock, and it partially re-cocks itself. I have to tug back on the bolt lever about 1/4" then it will fire 1 shot again. So far here's what I've tried:
-replaced sear spring -replaced rear bolt 'o-ring' -lubed with extreme rage oil (per local shop's recommendation) -replaced 1 valve lock bolt Still has the same problem. I'm about to give up and take it to the shop, any ideas?? PS- I'm new at this. Thanks!! 9/26 UPDATE: I've replaced the rear bolt and the sear, they were slightly worn. This still hasn't fixed the issue. To restate the issue. It will cock manually just fine, fires fine, but after it fires you have to just ever so slightly bump the bolt lever back about 1/8" of an inch before you hear the click and it's ready to fire again. Partially re-cocks? That doesn't sound right. You mean like it is getting jammed when it tries to re-cock?

Typically, if the marker is gassed up and the rear bolt fails to catch on the sear, you get "full auto". Seems obvious, but you are doing this with the tank on right?

Make sure your springs are in the right places. when the shorter spring is switched it tends to half cock.

yes tank is on, it's not making the 'full auto' type sound like it makes when running out of air.
springs are in the right place thanks for the tips, keep 'em coming! |

check your powertube, might be cracked or something may be blocking it from cocking all the way. 1/8 in. means something very small could be blocking that other 1/8 in. it needs.

check the ball detent. if it is in backwards this will happen. it's the orange thing in the front of the gun where the ball is fed.
http://www.tippmannparts.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.pr odInfo&productID=509&categoryID=12 it should curve forward toward the barrel to keep the ball in place in front of the bolt ready to fire. if it curves toward the front bolt allowing the ball to roll into the barrel it is in backwards. good luck |

I've experienced this as well. While I have never found the exact cause, I have found that in some cases a thorough cleaning will fix it. I do have one marker that it has become a constant problem with though. I have theories on why it happens but, as I have been unable to replicate the problem by moving the internals through a firing cycle (without air on the marker) with the left half of the body shell off I am not certain of the cause. My theories are below:

Thanks for the feedback!!
I took it to my local shop and they gave it a thorough cleaning, lube job, and replaced an 'o-ring' in the front. Problem solved. I shot about 2000 balls through it at a scenario game on Saturday with zero problems. |
