Ok, quick recap: Wireless on my laptop is working at 3
AM, I wake up at 11 AM and my laptop decides to tell me
my wireless driver isn't working.

So, I go to HP's website looking for a driver and the
download fails because I already have the newest version
or something. What the hell?

Any advice/tips? I'm currently wired.

Delete all current wireless drivers and try again.

What are your system specs (hardware and OS)? Did you shutdown your computer while you slept? Put it in sleep mode? Leave it running? I've noticed that my inspiron running Vista sometimes has issues with the wireless after coming out of sleep mode but I've never had a problem if I left it on or shutdown and rebooted. In any case, provide a little more detail about your system and I'll see if I can help you out.

Alright, after taking it to the IS guys at the hospital my mom works at (I'm good friends with one of them), they concluded that my
driver failed...completely. We tried reinstalling the driver but to no avail. I ended up picking up a cheap wireless USB and it works
fine.

Disable device/delete it completely in device manager, get rid of the driver, kill anything/everything involving the card.  Restart for the lulz, go back to device manager, scan for hardware changes (unless your computer already did) ????, profit.
And then call HP and be like **edited** fix it.

This is the proper way to deal with a driver issue for any hardware.

Minus the calling and swearing part, it's best to spread out your swearing through out the entire process to scare the card into working.

Trust me.

I was going to suggest kicking it a little bit, but with laptops you should really stick to a little light smacking and perhaps some screen-poking.
