What BPS can you get from either with full factory upgrades, e.g e-grip and double trigger?
(I mean, in real life, since I don't know if I can trust the gun bios since companies will make them sound better/faster when they don't quite shoot that much)

Also.. what makes a marker electronic or mechanical.. my brother argued the A5 with E-grip isn't electronic.. though surely it is since the firing is controlled by a computer..?

This topic would have been better in New Players or Upgrades and Customizing...

As for an answer, your BPS will be limited by your Cyclone, so probably around 15-17 for both markers. Tippmann doesn't offer factory upgrades for Cyclones, but you can upgrade them with aftermarket parts to shoot a whole bunch faster.

And for electronics, technically, you are right. But if you are going to argue semantics, so is he. There are two types of electros, electropneumatic and electromechanical. "True" electros, or the ones your brother is most likely talking about, are electropneumatic. Meaning they use a control board to operate an electronic pneumatic solenoid to control the firing cycle of the marker. These are the higher end markers, such as the Shocker, Angel, Ego, etc.

E-Gripped markers, like Tippmanns and Spyders, are electromechanical. Meaning they use a control board to actuate a "flapper" solenoid. This solenoid trips the mechanical sear. It's just a fancy way to make the standard mechanical pull a whole bunch lighter.

Oh I see.. so why do they advertise the X7 doing up to 30BPS if the cyclone can't handle more than 17? :S

Thanks for the info on the electro-pneumatic stuff :)

That's marketing. The board in the E-Grip will be able to cycle the marker 30 BPS, but a stock Cyclone won't be able to keep up.

they do but that doesnt add alot of extra speed.  it does help a little but more is needed to get to the extremely high bps so many people seem to want from the cyclone.
Stay low, run fast, and hope that paintball doesn't hit your...

TechT makes a good mod for the Cyclone. It's called the Vortex. (cheesy
theme names, but awesome, nonetheless)

1/2 the price, 1/2 the quality and R&D.

But seriously, I'd go with many companies over Rap4.
