Any snowboarders i need help.

Ok today my friend gave me his old snowboard with bindings. He told me i would need to get some boots. I have some crappy cheapo walmart special sugi winter boots that kinda look like snowboard boots. Now I know that snowboard boots are made specificly for snowboarding and you are supposed to have them. My question is do i really need to buy snowboarding boots when i have these boots that are kinda like snowboarding boots? I used them today at a hill at my cousins house and they seemed to work. They fit in the bindings fine and are stiff around the ankles. I used them all day today and my feet aren't sore or anything so does that mean they should be good?

Well, as long as they fit the bindings and you know they aren't going to slip out on you, you should be alright. The most important thing is to make sure they are comfortable. If you like the feel of them, youre golden. I would recomend buying a good pair in the near future if you plan on hitting up a mountain. Real boots will give you the suppost u need for making quick turns and going down those steep inclines. You can find some good deals online - i bought my boots here:

If you have the time, going to a store that sells them and trying a few on to make sure you know exactly what size to get might be a good idea. Then u can go order some. Thats what i did.

Well, like i said, for the most part you should be all set. And if you feel totally comfortable in them and u feel they are supporting you enough, than you can probably get by with them.

Truthyfully, I would buy new boots. I'm kinda of like a worry wart when it comes to saftey with sports. I have broken my ankles like four times, so I always go with what has the best support.

On that note, I can't snowboard worth a damn. Skiing is where it is at for me.  Holla at tallen

Get the real boots. They're made for a reason. I'm in the middle of my
second broken ankle, they're not fun.

OK well im still unsure wether or not i actually need to buy new boots. I am going snowboaring tomorrow with some friends and I am going to use mine for now. Here is the question are these snowboard boots?:

I mean they look just like snowboard boots and are fairly stiff. They fit into the bindings perfectly and seem to provide the ankle support.

lol thats because they are. but they are comfortable and they are stiff in the right places and fit into the bindings. They seem to work I will know for sure after tomorrow.

yes and these are just like chewp said they are winter boots trying to be snowboard boots, but they are stiff like snowboard boots and about the same size.
