I got my hands on a teammates 98C to rebuild and restore. The paint was wearing off so I decided to strip it and give it new paint (with his permission and his choice of colors and design.
I spent the last 6 hours working on it and 2 hours before that, most of it prepping. The painting was completely experimental and I tried several different techniques. Here is the new paint on the shells: ![]() ![]() I still have to clean out the insides and polish them as well as replace parts but the painting is done. The paint used is Flat Black and Transparent Red Powder Coat. What do you think? |

I think you should get rid of the advertising in your sig since it probably violates the "no selling on the forum" rule.
As for the paint job. Meh. I have seen better red and black camo jobs posted here. (I think the gloss was probably a bad idea.) Edited by Mack - 17 February 2009 at 9:43am |

Sig was new pricing for TAW games as a helper for hard economic times and no profit to me or my team, simply spreading the word but I removed it as I see what you mean for advertising.
The Teammate Its for usually plays with a bright orange Mini. This was not meant to be camo. |

not too bad but i agree with mack... the gloss throws it off. a satinf or flat scheme might have worked a lil better imo.

According to the description it is flat black... Pictures may not be doing justice to it. The right side looks better than the left, maybe its the lighting. Personally, I would have milled the Tippmann off and filled the depression for the plate. To each his own. Post pics when you are done and have it reassembled. |

It was a flat black originally but the transparent red turned it glossy. If it was mine, I would have milled it down but its not, I'm just fixing it up.
The flash is causing the colors to be off, its looks much better in person. |

Perhaps I'll have to pull out some of my loaner 98C's and go though all the other sample powder packs I have.
