    Posted: 24 April 2009 at 3:02am

I recently bought a Palmers Female Stab for my 98C. Its to be mounted directly under the grip replacing (I belive im using the right term) the asa that comes standard. Now how do you unscrew this bad mofo? I've read pouring boiling water to losen it up. Didn't work  at all =/. I don't want to excessivly do this as I wonder if I would be damaging anything in doing so. The nice boiling smell it gave off didn't really make me feel any better. I searched the forum and couldn't really find anything. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I seem to run into one problem after another as I upgrade my marker =(.

Are you having problems with the screws that mount the ASA to the grip, or taking the gas line off of the ASA? To remove the ASA from the grip, you should just have to use the correct allen wrench. If you are having problems removing the gas line from the ASA, you can use a wrench for the gas line side and put a thin screw driver through the mounting holes for leverage.

Yeah taking the gas line off. Does the hot water thing help? Im also a little confused as to what part is screwing off. There seems to be three parts. The gas line, some kind of fatter metal end cap where the wrench can grip, than the asa. So put a wrench into the holes where I took out the screw?

Ok and that didn't work to well. The smalles screw driver I had to fit through the hole bent on me. **edited** did they do, cement it in?

They use some sort of thread sealer to attach the gas line to the ASA and it is a female dog to remove sometimes. If you have access to a bench clamp, you might try clamping it in there and using a wrench on the fitting. If all else fails, you may have to just look at replacing the hose. Check www.tippmannparts.com and they sell the exact length replacement braided hoses. You may be able to use a heat gun to heat it up, but not sure how that will affect the hose.

good luck.

I got it finally. Great feeling when it started to turn, and it wasn't the nut stripping lol. Boiled it for 10 min than and got myself a good fixed size open wrench. Screw those adjustable ones. Thank you for the help though. My palmers should actually be here any min now. Perfect timing.

Glad it worked out.  Out of curiosity are there any other upgrades on your 98 other than the Palmers stab? If so, I may have a couple of handy pointers when tuning/adjusting it.

I also found when working on markers, keeping one of these around isn't a bad idea:

Just a flatline atm. Which is why I got the palmers. As I head good paint and a palmers goes a long way to getting the most out of this. But now I have a new problem.

Ok so I got the air hose off and my female palmers is here. But the air hose does not fit into the palmers where its supposed to go at all. The part that twists to tighten does not come down all the way over the actual end of the hose. So it doesnt make it to the threading on the palmers. Is there some kind of adapter im supposed to have? Im on a 98c plat.
