Bullet ID

My dad just handed me a steel bullet that he found near his house when he was a kid.  It measures approximately 1.75" long and is .424" diameter.  It is made entirely of steel.  Anyone have any ideas what it could be from?

Bullet in question is to the left of a 7.62x54

picture added to OP.  It is most certainly steel.  Sticks to a magnet very strongly and is even slightly magnetic its self.

after some research, turns out there are a ton of old rifle rounds in 10.75mm from way back in the day. Berdan rifles, for example, were 10.75x58mm and were used by the Russians and the US military until replaced by the Mosin Nagant and Krag-Jorgensen rifles respectively. Mausers were also made in 10.75 at one point and calibers ranging from 10.75x42mm to 10.75x75mm exist in historical firearms. As to the availability and composition of the ammunition for these various calibers, I can't attest. However, it seems likely that it came from such a weapon.

That's a hell of a round. I thought 7.62x54r where big. 10.75x58?? Jesus...

That's what I originally thought, but .424 = 10.75mm almost exactly which leads me to believe it's from a late 1800's cartridge firing rifle like the Berdan II.

Note: I don't think it's an original bullet from that time period since it would have been much more "ball" shaped. If anything, it would be a custom load to fire in a 10.75mm mauser or 10.75mm military rifle.
