Hey, I and a few friends have tippmans (mostly 98c and an a5). We play in the woods and decided whe needed to buy a chronograph for safety. Almost all of us are on co2. Anyways everyone who owns other guns (an slg, a vibe etc.) chronos perfectly, but the tippmans dont do anything. The difference between the screw fully in and fully in is practicly unnoticable. And we are not turning the wrong screw.

I Own a 98C and an A5 .   My 98 custom's chrono reading is just fine and is shooting at 285 right now.   My A5 is only shooting at around 245.   By adjusting the Velocity screw the gun has no change on its chrono reading.   My gun has a respose trigger installed and also a power tube upgrade (red JCS).   the gun does not leak CO2, but I am replacing all my O-Rings anyway (they all apear to be fine) and also my power tube and will see if theres any change...  Thats all i Can think of... any other suggestions...

First I'll give you props for having a Chrono. Not enough players have them in their tool kit.

Now on to your Tippmann A-5. Do you have the Original Powertube? Try swapping out the Powertube. I have been shooting Tippmanns since 1995 and I have yet to need any after market Powertubes. Try swapping out the powertubes and try to chrono the A-5.

I had a problem similar to this the other day but it was with my 98c pro.  Week before took it to range and it was shooting 307fps, had to really crank the velocity screw to get it down to 270.  Next week, and the velocity screw was never touched, it was chronoing 195 and the highest I could get it to go was 240.  Both times were on fresh co2 refills.  Airtech there was stumped but he normally doesn't work on tippmanns.
