A5 or 98 Custom

I am a mom who wants to buy her 2 daughters (16 & 13) paintball markers for Christmas.  They love to play but they usually rent them.  I think that I have it narrowed to the Tippmann A5 or the 98 Custom.  It is very confusing for me.  Can someone help me with this.  Thanks.

i would also have to go with the A-5. it is a good marker and is ready for rough handling. but if your looking cost wise, the tippmann 98 is cheaper but is just as reliable. both markers are a good choice. but after owning both, i personally like the tippmann A-5

I own both the Tippmann A5 and The 98 Custom . While I played on the field with an A-5 and my ten year old son would play with a 98 custom. I have to lean with the a5 for modding options but for weight issues I have to lean towards the 98 custom. As soon as a young gun feels that their marker is too heavy they tend to not want to play anymore. I would reccomned that you take your kids to a shop and see what they like. You might also be able to find a very well price used marker with lots of extras. Wich will cut cost on your for the long run. Tippmann markes are very durable and even a older Tippmann is usually in very good shape to last many yers down the road. Not to menchin the service that you get as a Tippmann owner ffrom the manufacture Tippmann themself. You also have to see what ylur kids want to do with then.. I.E..... Tournaments, Scenarios or just occassional recreational events. Being that paintball is a very expensive sport you need to find what your children want to do with paintball. Ether way, is a good route. I would prefer the 98C over the A5 because of the swap ability. If you get an E-Hopper for the 98C... then later down the road you want different marker then you can still use the E-hopper on the new marker... With the A5 you can only use the Cyclone feed, and the Cyclone attached to the A5 is only for the A5 and X7... as far as I know, and you can't swap them to a different marker... Then again I don't like to be tied down...

What ever one you buy for them is good... Its a personal choice.
Then again with an ehopper your looking at buying batteries... so...

I would get the 98 based on the cyclone. I had an X7 and sold it because of paintballs continually breaking in the cyclone. A guy on my team has an A5 and swears by his cyclone. You can put a cyclone on a 98, you can't put an aftermarket hopper on an A5/X7.

That company has been out of business for years.
