Solar flare?

Upcoming termination of the Mayan calendar?

Liberals in the media?

Not knowing what you were shooting or how it has been modded I have no idea what-so-ever might have been causing your problems.

I'd try swapping the original hammer back in for starters.  The experience around here has been that some of the after-market internals can actually cause problems and in most cases the stock internals (for the marker itself) are best.  With that said, I have not heard of any specific problems related to the zero kick hammer.

Starting with the assumption that the problems (chopping and velocity) are related (since they occurred simultaneously) you need to be specific on where the paint is breaking.  In other words, where is the broken paint?  Mainly in the cyclone, down the barrel, on the bolt face, etc.  Be specific.  (Doing this will help determine if it is a cyclone, barrel, or marker operation issue.  (Hopefully.)

Co2 could cause your velocity to be funny. It's effected by weather and as the day went on it was probably heating up or cooling. Crappy paint is probably why it chopped because 200-240 fps isn't high enough to be causing breaks. I have a problem with quality paint as well. There is nothing worse than buying a case of crap and having to do something with it because you can't return it.
