Looking to lose weight at the best time of the year. I'm doing some cardio and cutting out the excessive soda/energy drink consumption, as well as the tons of carbs and fast food.

Wondering if anyone knows any weight loss supplements or good meal replacement stuff since I have the appetite of a grizzly bear.

Also, this could probably be a good thread to make fun of me being fat. I'll allow it.

Up your fiber intake since it fills you up faster. I recommend brown rice and a ton of mixed vegetables.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

Learn to finish meals a little hungry.  I do it when I'm out of season, because I know I'm not burning as many calories.  You'll stop feeling hungry after about a week.

Doing cardio is a key weight loss tool.  Keep at it, and it'll help.

I'm kinda on par with you there, Koolit.

I've started walking more at night when it is cool, and when I go to school, purposefully parking as far from my class as possible. I cut out soda completely and only have sweet tea every now and again. No more fast food. Tons more veggies. Smoking is limited.

I've decided that, especially with food, I don't care if I lose weight, I'm just trying to eat things better for me anyway no matter if I lose weight or not.

Its not about finishing a little hungry but stopping satisfied, not full. See most people keep eating until they are stuffed instead of waiting the 15min it takes for food to settle and rid you of hunger.

And when eating. Make your biggest meals in the beginning of the day and smaller at the end. Its best to have a good (not an insanely big) breakfast and then having 3 smaller meals throughout the day.

Stop eating at 8 since what you eat and then sleep on food, it will only add more weight.

And don't be put off if you are running and stuff and aren't losing weight. It takes weeks for you body to understand you are trying to lose weight and to get on track.

I'm sure to some extent, the way you feel when you're done with a meal changes from person to person.  When I have to cut 1000 calories a day out of my diet, I definitely have to keep track of how much food I'm putting on my plate, but I'm sure that's not necessarily the difference most people are looking for.

The comment about big and small meals is really good.  At bare minimum, two hours between the last thing you eat and when you go to bed.  If possible, more is better (although obviously there's the "hungry again" limit).

Your body will try to hold onto weight when you start working out, but over time you'll see the difference in calories burned to calorie intake.

Oh, and note of Constitution post.

I lost 70lbs since January. I stopped drinking soda (and eventually cut out beer) and quit eating fast food all the time.  Also added quite a bit of cardio exercise and it was easy. Almost all of my meals where tuna and something else. A lot of pasta. No soda/beer/junk food.

Odd... Everytime I'd start smoking I'd lose weight.

Edit:

I quit smoking back in April. Wasn't going to pay damn near $7 for a pack of Camel Wide filters.

It was less about weight and more about general health.

Ahh. 10-4.

I was smoking a pack a day and doing about a can of Grizz a day as well when I quit.. and I quit cold turkey. One of the best decisions I have ever made.

How much do you want to lose?

Do lots of cardio, interval training is the best but only if you physically can. Run if weather permits. If you are stuck inside, get a gym membership and take up swimming (no treadmills!) Work out at the gym with strength workouts too. Sure cardio burns more calories during the exercise but muscle will increase the amount of calories that you are burning all the time, even when you are not exercising. The best workout for lat loss would combine high intensity cardio with full body strength workouts at the gym.

No matter what you do, the thing which accounts for 90% of your ability to lose weight is appetite. Don't eat right, and you won't lose weight.

Plain oatmeal contains plenty of fibre which (as previously said) will help you to curb cravings.

If your goal is purely fat loss, than the only supplement that I would recommend would be a good quality multivitamin. The main ingredients in most fat loss pills can be found in a cup of green tea. Drinking 3-4 cups per day will increase your metabolism and help you burn fat. That being said, I could recommend a few supplements that though I haven't tried myself, are rated to work pretty good.

Eat a bunch of small meals per day rather than a few big ones. I wish i could but the meal plan at school doesn't exactly work like that...Drink tons of water, it will help for sure and make you feel better too. Chances are that you don't drink even close to enough right now.

Gator: Though smoking does generally cause weight loss, whale also stated that he was more interested in becoming more healthy in general than just loosing weight. Thus, less smoking. (crap.... he already got to that)

Why not actually run outside? It is a much more effective workout.

They are a waste of your time, and do not compare to actual free running.

Same thing as using the circuit machines at the gym rather than free weights.

Stop eating so much.

I got mad skinny when I wasted more money on pot than food. I'm back to a healthy weight and nowhere near the fatass I used to be. 215 to 140 back to 170-175, in just over a two year span. The cigarettes didn't help health wise but I've cut back from pack and a half each day to just half a pack.
