    Posted: 03 November 2009 at 11:12pm

i saw this forum and thought to post pics of my own gun.. i got the a-5 with snipe kit, or atleast it said it was =P

it has a 20'' barrel with red dot. i personally think the red dot is better then an actual scope because the face mask really limits you at how close you can get your eye to the eye hole.
this is just the gun with red dot and 20'' barrel ^

close up on the barrel^

red dot on the ''scope'', the red dot looks to small on the pic =P        ^

some of the other basic stuff that i ordered with the gun. im still going to get another scope/flat line barrel/ a smaller c02 as a spare/ e trig/ and some other stuff that would be a benifit to my preformance and the guns =D

ill probably add another thread of my other gun, the one i use for speed ball, it was like 3x's the price of the a-5, and i bought this at 300$ =P

No pic, no post.

Try hosting them through photobucket or imageshack.

It's not a bad start, but the 20" barrel is way too long. You should cut back to 12-14" as you're not achieving any significant range or accuracy increases.

does it really not add accuracy? i thought that it would... which would be better? this barrel or the flat line? not sure.. i think ill just get the flat line too.. just to have it just in case.. and yeah i have hit snipes and runners with this barrel, its really good. i play woods ball a lot, and tourneys in speed.

the flatline adds distance and decreases the needed trajectory to reach certain distances.

but at the distances it adds and the spin it puts the ball, they are less likely to break anyway. so the flatline is not really all that great. its a cool idea and works great. but for its application its not so great.

The apex is still better than the flatline in every conceivable way.

im always partial to the j&j ceramic barrels, propbally because i ended up with them in trades all the time.

and a just a side note. you might not want to say snipe, sniper or any thing else like that around the forum.

well said stick.  Basically once you go above 14-16" on a barrel you are actually taking away from yourself.  The added friction means you have to turn up the velocity more to get the ball to fly at the fields set fps.  that wastes air.  I say go with a 12-14" barrel.  My best luck has been with J&J and Lapco butu I also hear really amazing things about the HammerHead Barrels.  J&J and Lapco's are a little less expensive though and give great accuracy for the money.

don't listen to these people who are bashing your barrel.if you like the barrel then keep it.I have that same barrel on my m98(I also have the same red dot sight).it is great for sticking through bushes which keep you consealed which is the point to having a sniper gun.it is also very quiet.you should always build your paintball gun for the way you want it not what people tell you it should be.I have found the barrel to be very acurate and I beleive you will too.but if the length is bothering you then you can always either get another one or you could cut off part of the one you have now.for instance the muzzel break doesn't even touch the ball it is mostly for noise dampening and looks.but the barrel  will not increase distance that much is for sure.the only ways to increase distance are to either get a flatline(semi good) or a apex(quite better) I own both and I must say that the best barrel I own is a rap4 recon barrel with an apex tip.

by the way I am not an amateur when it comes to barrels.I have owned a j&j edge elite kit,a cp,a bt ak47 barrel kit, a archon winforce, and the barrels that I have already mentioned.

I have also used a 16inch stiffi,and I know some one who uses a 23inch stiffi.

also if you are going for the sniper look then people expect you to have a long barrel/gun. it comes with the teritory.

My local paintball store gave me a Dye barrel and it's pretty accurate and I added a MilSim shroud from trinity.  I also have a flatline which is not too accurate from a distance but can keep people at bay.  These are for my A5's.
My taste is a barrel from speedball painted black with a shroud for the Milsim look.
