Well Im wanting to get back into paintball and back in 99 before I stopped playing I bought a 68-carbine used. While looking for a new marker I notice alot of people still have the carbines and are upgrading them with rt triggers and new hoppers and stuff so I may consider it. I just want to find out what the difference is between the 68-carbine and the pro carbine wich is mainly what I see being modded to see if all these mods will work for my marker

There is very little difference between the 68 Carbine and the Pro Carbine. The Pro Carbine features the carbine and loader bracket build together that is removableas one piece, the 68 had a hard plastic carbine that fit over the barrel and keyed into a notch seperate from the loader elbow. The 68 carbine I own features the CVX valve which is standard in the Pro Carbine, however I believe there was non cvx valved 68 carbines, I don't know this to be a fact though...

Rt can be retro fitted but this does require a substancial amount of work and I always felt it didn't merit the effort. Same being said about getting a cyclone feed added to the mix.
Personally the addition of an electro trigger would be a mod I have considered, a spyder style sear tripper always appeared to me as an affordable means to get a better trigger pull and attain a higher rof. However i never pursued doing this mod as I never quite found the time.

IMO the 68 carbine is a great marker very compact and light for carrying the Tippmann name.

I think you're correct, some 68 Carbines were non CVX.

Definitely correct.
Early 68 Carbines did not have the CVX valve. Majority did have it.

What exactly is the advantage of the CVX valve?

^^^ It was designed to be very tolerant of the pressure fluctuations associated with CO2.

Ah.  That makes sense.  Do most markers made by Tippmann have the CVX valve then?
