I for one think they're kind of neat, but definitely not worth $300. I believe I bought a 10'' blade fan for about $15 last year.
Regardless, I still want to mess around with one in a store.
Thoughts.

I'd be tempted to dump it in bubble solution first.

Old news, but cool as hell. Might pick one up for the new place once a few paychecks come through.

I'd like to see dyson put this technology in a hair dryer. Same principle would work, and all you're adding is a heating coil. It would take less energy, and be much much quieter.

Meh, they already have junk like that for air compressors. I've got a neat one that is open like that fan but can pull a good vacuum. The really neat toy is the Ranque-Hilsch vortex tube. I always had fun at work letting noobs burn their hands on them because they didn't expect the heat.

The fans look cool, but from the reviews I have been looking at, it is pretty loud when you actually want to get some power out of them. It also uses the same amount of energy as a regular fan.
I love their hand dryers. Never dried my hands faster. I know the local IKEA uses them. |

Those are neat. About 2 years ago a friend and I were working on a cascaded vortex tube for cooling processors. Never went very far, namely cause we knew zilch about making one. Maybe one of these days I'll get a chance to work on it again.
