LOL  Well thats two motorcycles i bought this month.

Have been riding a 2008 Yamaha V-Star 1100 for the last couple years.    Been modifying the bike a bit and made the thing quite the beast (dynoed at 67hp BUT 124lbs/tq).   It was a hoot of a bike to ride the Tq was staggering and it was all too easy to have the back end brake loose in first and second gear by just giving the think the juice.  In the rain the bike was out right scary with ease of braking the rear free in all five gears.  The engine was running awsome but for all that power it liked to DRINK fuel netting down to 35mpg leaving an effective range before reserve of only 170kms.

But i was happy with the bike anyways i LOVED that bike BUT this year Ontario insurance rates increased and MY insurance for the 1100 damn near doubled.

So i made the desishion to trade down to a smaller bike again as i simply cant justify the cost to insure the 1100 especially since i need to also insure my new to me 1983 Seca 750.

So yesterday i parked the 1100 yamaha at the local honda dealer and went home with a 2010 honda CBF600SA.  I optioned the bike with touring comforts of large detachable hard saddle bags, Heated had grips, and a Center stand.

Put 200kms on it so far and man its a blast to be on a sporty bike again.  Its actually decently comfy, goes pretty damn good (gona miss the TQ of my V-Star though),  And is alot of fun to ride.  I think its gona be a great bike for longer trips and with 20l of fuel and only 600cc  im at half a tank when the v-star was empty.   I know i will miss the 1100 but im pretty happy with the new machine.  And the best part is my insurance is WAY WAY WAY less than the 1100 so insuring my 750 yamaha when its done wont be a problem.

Heres some pics though.

And one of the current stable from left to right (2000 Yamaha V-Star 650 classic, 2010 Honda CBF600SA, 1983 Yamaha Seca 750cc).

And last but NOT least the bike the honda replaces the BEAST

I like all bikes actually.    One of the most fun bikes i have ever ridden was a Buell Lightning XB12Ss.

I REALLY wanted one of them but insurance would have been a bigger issue than it was with the 1100 V-Star.
Also strongly considered a few of the smaller boar Ducatis but maintence wise they are more intensive and i fix things for a LIVING last thing i want to do on my time is fix stuff.

And I considered a few of the Bonneville Triumphs BUT they just felt too small for my fat ass.

As for harleys i like quite a few of em.  BUT they are VERY expensive and my Yamaha could out perform them on the drag strip.  That being said when i got my Promotion at work (prior to this insurance headach) i was considering trading my Star in on a 2010 Harley Davidson Street Glide.  Its a frigen awesome bike super comfy and GREAT for touring duty.  But i decided against it due to the $27,000CDN price tag.
