First off it was a funtime, back in the trenches, trading fire, snoopin and poopin, that being said.
Tippmann lost BIGTIME, and there were many factors. First off was the standard tendancy for players to stay in the prep and camp zones, never did we have a sustained number on the field for any length of time. Tippmann of course got all of the walkon rentals, so by lunch break saturday, after 4 hours of being hammered the majority of the walk-on rentals left, making the numbers kinda skewed. Primary issue is it was a pure 'herding cats' exercise, Tippmann players were hesitant to engage, and to 'fight what you got', first couple of howitzer balls from world and they would start pulling oput and backing up. Example. I led and co-odinated the taking of the castle, organized a perimeter along the west bank of swamp by the two bridges over swamp, I went back to the castle proper, taking a count of 'defenders' and just as I was leaving the doorwar to get a secure perimeter started on the ville side, incoming rounds at the door, and the perimeter folks retreating en mass from the entire western perimeter, 45 seconds and the whole side colapsed. NO ONE stood and even attempted a defense................ The Draxxus Paint semi driver wandered around all day saturday and we BS'd a bit about life on the road saturday night. Got with Dave and we got him a free day on sunday to play...he has never played the game. GOt him all rigged out with my spare gear, got him a rental automatic, put one of my barrels on it and cut him loose....he had a blast, he wore my tiger stripe top and I got it back 'red' from all the hits, but he had a big grin on his face, and told me some of his war stories. Now for the fun part and plan ahead. I am now 'volunteered' for the US General for 'Day of the Rangers' (go figure) 14May2011, need some good Tippmann types for my NCO corps, some OMHW will be my officers, momma has even volunteered to be my RTO, Now remmember I depend more on my NCO's to tun my forces, to push and get the troops to fight, so this is more than a shoot paint and die exercise for my leaders.....anyone up to it? |

I would be up for that. I am probably far too liberal for to run your little paintball army though.
I have always wanted to go to a TWC and play on Tippmann side. |

If you can fight, have a soldier's heart, and can 'Lead the Way' there is a spot for you. Once the bullets fly, politics go bye,bye.....

Same thing happened at the Spec Ops vs. Smart Parts game at Camp Blanding. I don't know what it is about the types of people that subscribe to certain companies, but SpecOps and Tippmann fanatics have the same mindset of OMG WE MUST REST AN HOUR 'TWEEN BATTLES!

Eh, what the hell. Wallet permitting, I'm in.
You've seen me in an NCO type position already, so you may just want to save yourself the trouble and send me off on a suicide mission if you're going to have any chance of winning at all. |

Once or twice a year, i momentarily wish I didnt live in sunny socal. one is when there are big paintball events. The other is for a few days of snow.
Perhaps one of these days i will use vacation time for a paintball event. |

When theguy and I went to twc a few years ago it was much the same story. We played on the world team and tagged along with the smartparts guys since our booth as right across from theirs. It was defiantly a good time, and I would do it again if I had the time and money. I might try to make a few of the east-coast games later this year if I have my finances straight by then.

Carpool? You'd have to go straight past me anyway. I-90 is 3 and a half miles from my front door. Split travel cost and that could help both of us out. |

I haven't played at Day of the Rangers before. Its gonna be a 28 hours game. Some night play, but not 28 straight.
Cash and Semester permitting, i'm in. I will play the role of Commissar, if you turn and run, I will shoot you myself.

if it's that far in advance, I might be able to make it. although i'm definitely not a decision maker in big/scenario games since it's been a while. I'll follow reb into a suicide mission.

The Operator Groups are getting together a large group to go to next year's Challenge. I'm planning on going next year. Since this year far traveling scenarios are out of the question.

Should probably make your Day of the Rangers recruitment into its own thread.
I will have the videos up in a couple weeks. I can't make them public until I get the ok from the production company. Which will be after they air.

If you head North first to pick up 90, you could ride with me and anyone else coming from this direction. |

Although that would probably be an incredibly inconvenient method. 90 starts in Boston.

I might consider it if I still have any Tippmann markers left by that time. Maybe I'll have my E-bolted M98 done by then.
As for OS's experience with the Tippmann players, it's about what I saw a couple of years ago as well. You had a few agressive players shooting and moving up, but a ton of little kids and noobs hugging onto trees trying to long ball. At one point, we had a huge group of players bottlenecked just down from Eastpoint. Some dude, I think the general, was trying to get a charge going. At one point, he actually threatened to start shooting people if they didn't at least try to move up. Someone threw a few smoke bombs, a group of us started charging and we all pretty much got lit up since there was zero support behind us. I'm not exactly a fast runner, but when I got out, I had to walk a good 30-40 yards back before I finally ran into a bunch of players huddled in the bushes refusing to move. Very exasperating. Also, anyone willing to drive up to help OS, I have an empty couch,
Well lots of empty space for a half dozen people or so. Grab a sleeping bag and RSVP.
