'Larry the Cable Guy'. I bumped into him once a few years ago in the South Lincoln Walmart. A how ya been conversation and off he went shopping a o'dark thirty. His normal personality and voice is far from the 'Larry the Cable Guy' charactor.

His community efforts in Lincoln are lengendary;
http://journalstar.com/news/local/article_57896bc6-cccb-11df-bad6-001cc4c002e0.html
is just one. He has a large farm/range south of Lincoln and is just Joe Normal wandering Lincoln unless you take time to take notice.

His real fame is that at every Nebraska football homegame he packs his two skyboxes with kids from local hospitals, and he has flown kids up from the Danny Thomas Childrens Hospital in Memphis, TN.

There needs to be more entertainers like him, not these egocentric nutjobs that fill the tabloids.

Whitney used to be on the radio in Orlando, and crafted the whole "Cable-Guy" persona there.

He was oft considered to be kinda racist and degrading - His act has cleaned up considerably for the "Blue Collar" stuff.

My point being: I think you can be an egotistical nutjob and still support charity. I don't think they have to be mutually exclusive.

Case in point - Lebron James.

It's a persona, very obviously so.

I'm willing to humor a certain amount of character flaws if the person generally does good things.
"Abortion is not "choice" in America. It is forced and the democrats are behind it, with the goal of eugenics at its foundation."

-FreeEnterprise, 21 April 2011.

Yup, he actually said that.

This.

Again, Lebron James's "Decision" was one of the most strange, egotistical things ever, but he got ESPN to donate all the advertising money from that hour-long wankfest to the Boys and Girls Club of America.

Bingo. We're all jerks at times. Not all of us take the time to do our part to be nice. It's good that he does.

And I don't like most of his jokes either.
