I'm bored and messing around with my kids camera. Took some pictures of my boys:

Yeah, it's the best I could get. The spaz rarely sits still.

This guy on the other hand is a staring contest champ.

Toby is a cocker/dachsund mix, so I guess that would make him a Cockshund or a Dachser Spaniel?  Rusty is a Jack Russell.

I've never seen a Jack Russell with that coat before.

And the top one looked like a spaniel of some kind, but I never would have guessed dachshund in there. And I have three mini dachshunds. Well, my mom does. I miss them a lot.

It's amazing the power a dog has. It can make even the most stone-cold manly men talk in baby talk when scratching a dog around the neck.

Oh, and if you are interested by this stuff, check out the National Geographic documentary called " . . . And Man Created Dog."

It covers how ancient man grew a relationship with wolves, and eventually dogs would become the first creature that human beings would successfully domesticate. Really interesting stuff.

I thought all Jack Russells had short hair? Someone said the fact that he has spots is a little wierd..? I really am not that familiar with the breed. He was surrendered at the dog warden where we got him. Supposedly, he is eight years old, but the vet says he would have guessed more like 3, so I guess that means he's healthy. Everyone all says he is the calmest JR that any of them have ever seen. He's a pretty good dog overall, we have only had him for a few months, but he has fit in very nicely around here. Toby is a Humane Society rescue. We got him when he was only 3 months old. I really thought with the big goofy paws that he was going to be a lot bigger, but it didn't happen.

My neighbor has a Jack Russel/pitbull mix (brindle color). One of the nicest dogs I've ever seen.

Are English Setters any smarter than Irish Setters? My mom's old boyfriend used to love Irish Setters.  I never understood why, as I found them to be the dumbest animals in existence. One died because he decided to sleep under the tire of a 30ft box truck. The other escaped one day and literally just kept running. I'm guessing he ended up in Canada or something. Same dog that used to jump over the fence and stand barking on the other side for us to come get him.

I was sitting here trying like hell to figure out how

+

=

until I finally googled "dachshund" and was reminded that they do indeed have coats that color/pattern.  Needless to say, I felt silly.

I've been thinking about getting a dog for a while so my friend let me watch his for a weekend a few weeks ago, as a trial period of sorts.  I enjoyed it for the most part and I'm sure would enjoy watching a dog that was my own even more. At the same time, I'm really not a fan of responsibility or commitment, so I'm still pretty divided.  Anyway, here is a picture of his dog, Oxford:

He also just came back from the groomer and got a high and tight. If we let it grow out, it's a little longer. But yeah, Dachsunds come in long and short hair. Cute dog, is it a Rotty?

Lol, I just edited my post to be more specific because I figured someone would think I meant the hair length or build.  I was referring to the color/design of the coat though.

Yeah, he is a Rott.  I had never considered owning a Rotty before my friend got his, pretty much because I always assumed the negative stereotypes about them were true, but being around one that actually has a good owner has completely changed my outlook on them and now they are one of my favorite breeds.  If I do end up getting a dog, there is a good chance it will be a Rotty now.

Rottys get a pretty bad rep, but every one I have ever been around has been an absolute suck. They are really great dogs who know how to keep there attitude in check, same goes with bull mastiffs. Mean lookin things, but damn cuddley when you actually kick it with one.

Thank ROFL. He's quite the charmer. Everytime he chews up a pair of my wifes underwear or pisses on the floor, she comes in yelling and hollering, he calmy flops on his back lifts his leg and in no time is getting a belly rub.... I'm a little jealous.
