And spending money I don't have!

I wanted a new X-Box 360. My sister took our old one across the state. I went to Best Buy to get one and a copy of Fable III.

I walked out with:

- 250 GB 360 Slim
- Fable III
- Shaun of the Dead for Blu-Ray
- LG Blu-Ray player
- 42" LED 1080p flatscreen TV
- Wall mount and cables for aforementioned products.

Yayyy me!

I've been looking at buying a 360 as well, though. All of my friends are on Live rather than PSN, and I don't need a blu-ray player, while my parents could use one for the living room.

Two things:

1) Holy crap man.

2) Is Blu-Ray really the next DVD?

Granted, but the 360 and game came free with the TV, which was already discounted. Otherwise, I wouldn't have done it. It's all stuff I wanted to get sometime anyway, and with the Best Buy card, I have 3 years to pay it all off with no interest. I quite seriously saved almost a grand off the normal store prices...

And honestly, I prefer the 360's game selection, though I will admit all the latest popular titles are coming out for both the PS3 and 360, so even that's becoming a moot point. Most of my friends do have XBL over PSN, though.

As for Blu-Ray, mayhaps I could have passed entirely on that, but it really is something I've been wanting as well. The players are coming down in price, and they reached that "Meh, why not?" point.

It all works out quite nicely, provided I don't miss a payment.

Edit: Whale, I really should. I really need to practice some form of self-discipline...

I spent some coin this weekend. Picked up a 5 foot shower base which retailed for $210 at lowes, and a shower surround that retails for $228 at lowes, and got both for $150 total after haggling with the Lowes manager, and paying cash.

Then spent most of the day Saturday with a concrete saw...

Finally got it installed, and started filling it back in

And put up the new wall, and started installing the shower walls.

Also purchased about $200 in other supplies.

So my cost is around $350.

Retail to hire someone to do that... over $2,000.

I also picked up a new mattress/box springs. Retail was $2,489.00. Got it with the frame for $350 cash at HH Gregg after haggling with the manager.

Try being informed instead of just opinionated. How long before you admit that Obama was a mistake?

Interesting shower reaper, never seen one like that.

And Magoo, did we get you with our 18 months no interest financing for purchases 429 and over? If so, pay it all off before the 18 months is over or like any other credit card you will get hit with major interest rates.

For some reason the gubment decided to put my on TDY for training I've already completed so I went back to Best Buy where they have been holding my position for me. Looks like I get to work Black Friday again...DAMN

Nice haul, I'm sure you're giddy as hell. I'm a total technophile, I love making huge hauls like that.

I think Blu Ray is just the final step in hard media. I think to that extent it is the next DVD, but I also don't see the various DVD collectors of the world phasing out their copies of Death Wish 5 on DVD to upgrade. So I don't think you're gonna see the mass purchasing you saw with DVD, because if the source material wasn't HD, the difference is negligible.

Digital media is the future, it's just getting Internet connections and storage hardware up to task / price. I believe that, within the next decade, you're going to see hard media phased out in favor of digital delivery. Its cheaper for both the developer and the consumer, and the only people fighting in are the retailers.

If you paid more than $15 for your HDMI cables, you got ripped off.

All HDMI cables are created equal.  Since it is a digital signal, you can afford to lose some of the data to the connection without it affecting quality.
