im geting a new barrel. i compared my friends a5 flatline to my stock a5 and there wasnt much difference that i could tell. if i understand the flatline is for distance. i play woodsball and im shooting inbetween trees and limbs. distance really isnt a big concern for me, the flatline still curves the ball. i have herd bigshot barrels are really accurate but not so much on adding distance. i was just wanting some opinions from you guys before i buy, and which bigshot would be good for my a-5. And what if you bought a bigshot and just put an apex tip on it. could you have the best of both worlds?

its a paintball, a ball curves, you can get a lil more accurate but the ball is still gonna curve no matter what

If your Flatline is putting excessive spin on the ball there are several possible sources for this problem:

^^^ It took me a lot of work/experimentation and (being a bit obsessive) a few additional parts but I had a 98 Flatline several years ago that would shoot laser beams. I do not know what I was thinking when I traded it in. The local shop that rents equipment still uses it as a rental and it (despite being only semi-auto) is quite popular among the renters.

yea thats why im going with the apex, herd it takes some time to get the flatline to shoot the way you want it. im too impatient when it comes to paintball, just wana screw the tank on and play. and i can take the apex off anytime i want and just use the bigshot.

if you want acruacy, get a 14" barrel
1)very thin and straight riflings are helpsful
2)small portings
3)keep your barrel very very very very clean

I will only play with an Apex on my A-5 or 98. Once you get used to its capabilities it is hard to go to anything else. I play with mine set halfway, and then adjust based on the shot. Halfway makes it shoot like a regular gun to about 100 feet. Perfectly flat shot no curve!
I had a guy pop out from behind a tree to my side, and shoot at me, I snap fired as soon as I heard his shot, and both of us hit each other, sending us to our respective camps.
Then if I am shooting over 100 feet, I adjust and add more ramp which adds to the distance. For me, I find that 265 is about perfect on fps. I also have a core red dot, that is dialed in to 75-80 feet. And with good paint (I use xball woodsball scenario from Dick's) it is a super accurate marker, and I chrono every gun at my field so I test out the accuracy every time we play on all the markers... My scope is a waste, as I rarely use it.
It was 26 degrees when we started playing on Saturday, and even with the cold I could hit a 3 inch tree in the same spot from 60 feet out 9 out of 10 shots.

Mine is pretty much stock. I wore out the plastics inside my cyclone and replaced them with aluminum, but other than that, it is stock.
I use a remote coil, which seems to act as an expansion chamber and keeps my velocity pretty consistant, but it does fluctuate a little.
Here is a video I shot last year.

nice video. i didnt see to many hiting limbs, cant wait to get my apex tip. im still deciding on if i really need a palmers or if i would be ok with just an axpansion chamber. not to big on the remote lines, i would probably get it cought on a lim where i play.

I like the remote, as putting your air tank on your gun really makes the marker long, and hard to switch from side to side on tree's. The more compact the easier it is to fire in a tight position.
Course, using a remote in the cold is tricky, as they often leak when temps are below freezing.
That video was on a day when my normal a-5 messed up so I grabbed my spare a-5.
Here is a video from last month. I need to edit my footage from Saturday and post my newest stuff...
1:47 is my favorite part... 1 shot kill headshot.

i like the videos, one head shot was pretty cool. you have a point on it being longer, probably lighter to and i may need to get one if i put the stock on it that i get from the repbate, and the expansion chamber or palmers. i found by holding the tank against my shoulder and using the recoil that way, the respnse works really good, even after i adjusted it. of cousre i really dont have time do hold it that way if i meet someone on the run. what kind of camera setup do you have? i wouldnt mind having something like that.

It is a ATC3k by oregon scientific. I removed the waterproof seal on the microphone to help with the sound, and it does a decent job for the money. It shoots 2 hours on a 4 gb SDHD card and with 2 AA lithium batteries it works great even in extreme cold.
I have mounted it to my gun (which it shakes when you fire) and usually I have it on the left side of my helmet. But, this last game was my first time with it on top of my helmet, and it seemed to work pretty good up there. Gave a better field of vision when hiding behind trees.
I've never had a direct hit on the lens yet, but it has been splattered in paint many times.
They have released a ATC5k now, and it seems like it is better than the one I have. Course mine has taken some rough stuff, and still works great.
