3D TV

My sister bought a 50" 3D ready Panasonic plasma for the living room today. I have to say, I was very skeptical at first, but watching Coraline on it blew me away. Really crazy detail, not the gimmick I was expecting.

Black Ops in 3D was a mixed bag. While the effects were nifty, you have to drop your resolution to 720p, and things really get jaggy. It gets pretty dark, and you lose alot of the graphical edge. Plus, the whole thing made me pretty ill after about 20 minutes of single player.

So I can totally see the potential for 3D to take movies to a whole different arena, games I remain very skeptical of. It really just takes away and feels gimmicky. I'm interested to get the opinions of anyone else who jumped in on the 3D bandwagon...personally I wouldn't, at least for a year or two to see if the technology takes off.

I watched Avatar earlier in the year on a 50+ inch 3D plasma+ whatever and have to admit it was pretty wierd. It literally looked like I was watching a live play inside a box. I had mixed feelings about it actually. For some reason, it reminded me of the old Dr Who series. No idea why.

I've seen those super-HD TVs in stores, and sometimes it almost seems a little too good.

I agree. I can't remember what movie I was watching one day, but they actually expose more flaws than the quality they add is worth. 

Yeah, I had a headache and nausea with tue X-Box. I was fine with the movie though.

I saw Avatar in the theater, but I haven't seen anything yet with the active glasses required for 3D TVs...I have read somewhere that the shutter systems are more likely to give people headaches.
