ok just got my bigshot barrel in, and im pleased with my purchase. havent got the apex tip in yet but its on the way. whe i compared the barrel with my stock one there was a difference, but not as much as i thought there would be, im sure i will notice i bigger difference when i get my apex tip on it. i do understand this is still just a round paintball coming out, and not a bullet coming out of a rifle. so im not hoping to notice magical upgrades where a paintball shoots like a gun or something. but i do like to be able to notice a difference. if you cant notice a difference or its not big enough for you to even see when you are shooting the gun then why get it?
  so i was thinking for my next upgrade to be the palmers stabilizer, and i do run co2. this thing is pretty high, about 80 to 100 bucks. so my question to you guys that have the palmers, can you notice a difference in  shooting more consistant, accurate shots, and keeping liquid co2 out of your gun? and after using it would you go back and buy it again, or just save the money?

Barrels/accuracy - try this - Chrono at 300 fps. Take some shots at a static target and see where they group.

Turn your marker down to about 265/270 fps and try it again on another target. See how it compares to the 300fps model.

Palmer Stab - yes. It's more consistent and is designed to work with CO2. Have the male installed in your tombstone and you wouldn't want get rid of it.

When installing the stab, turn it to about 700 psi and open up your velocity adjustment screw all the way [but don't remove it]. Adjust your fps at the regulator, not the velocity adjustment screw...and get it to about 270/280 fps. Use the velocity screw to make minute or fine adjustments to lower it if you need to.

The need for sufficient back pressure to properly operate the Cyclone on the A5 will probably necessitate a higher pressure setting on the Palmers.  Other than that, druit is pretty much spot on.

Additional note.  "Open up the velocity screw all the way" means start with it all the way in and back it out about 4 complete turns.  On most Tippmanns, this equates to full airflow without leakage around the velocity screw.

thanks for the help. mack u mentioned the need for back pressure for the cyclone to operate. how will i adjust this? could i just screw the  velocity screw in a bit farther to solve the problem if i dont have enough back pressure? or can i leave the screw turned out and just turn the palmers up to a higher psi?

Both will work.  If I were doing this I would experiment with variations of the two and find what delivered the best performance.  (If you really wanted to confuse the issue you could add a rear velocity adjuster to the mix to increase/decrease the amount of air released with each shot and have three adjustments to mess with/balance for best results.)
