So me and some friends decided to start out paintballing. We all got Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum power packs with ACT. Except for 1 who got a project salvo.

One of the guys decided to get a ceramic barrel and response trigger. And I don't really know where to start. Now I've done it a few times before, so I got a good idea of my style of play. But this is my first time owning a gun and really getting into it, so I'm not sure where to start with my upgrades. I've done a lot of research, but honestly a lot of the stuff is a bit over my head right now.

I was thinking about getting a new barrel because I like to shoot from longer range most of the time, so I was thinking about adding that gives backspin. But again, not really sure.

Any help on what upgrades I should start with or any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Keep your upgrades to a minimum until you have a good grasp of what is going on with upgrades. Shooting from long range is typically a new players initial position, but soon enough, you will realize that you need to move in closer to get eliminations. Backspin type barrels are great for utilizing a flat trajectory and a little bit of range for suppression fire, but truly are not very accurate at longer distances unless they are really dialed in perfectly. In some cases, it takes people months or years to get them dialed in properly. A basic barrel upgrade like a J&J ceramic is all you really need for now. Get some more play time in, and figure out what you need from there be it a higher rate of fire, better shot to shot consistency or whatever. Don't bother with internal upgrades such as new bolts, powertubes etc, they are a waste of time. IMO, keep away from unnecessary external upgrades, all they do is add unneeded weight. Go for function over looks.

Speaking of suppression, is there anyway you can make a paintball gun a bit more silent?

Tippmann markers, by design are loud. Not much can be done short of wrapping it in a pillow to help with that. Using ported barrels helps, which by the way backspin barrels are not ported. Supposedly using a low pressure kit reduces some noise, but they are expensive, discontinued and generally agreed up on not woth it.

If you are asking how to make a barrel noise suppressor, this is illegal and will result in the thread getting locked and deleted by a mod.

It would be illegal because if you were to build a silencer, you can easily put it on a rifle and kill people.

With that said, I would look at a nice 12'' to 14'' inch barrel. Lapco or J&J.

I'll probably stick with a ported barrel. I'd rather have a bit quieter barrel over one that shoots a bit farther. Regardless of the legality of it, since I can own a silencer, will they work for paintball guns? I found one site that did sell them, but it didn't like they were all that functional.

I have a salvo with the jj ceramic response trigger and electric hopper these guns are loud so when I play I use it to draw attention and set up the ambush around the idea that I have a loud gun. 9 times outta 10 im the first one in a fire fight but thats the way I like it. I bought a 18 inch apex 2 and the next week bought the jj and it has stayed on ever since, the range was better on the apex but Im used to strait shooting guns

I was told by someone not to get the response trigger cuz it makes the gun like 10 x's louder.

I read somewhere about a rocket cock? Anyone know anything about this or where to get one?

I read somewhere about a rocket cock? Anyone know anything about this or where to get one? Google is your friend. It's actually a "Rocket Cock II"

The one I found was just Rocket Cock. But I've read a ton of different things, some people say it's a waste of money and some say it's absolutely necessary. I figure it's in between and not necessary but good to have. I guess my main question is does it do anything besides keep crap out of the inside of the gun?
