I got your 4-7" right here:
![]() This could also be titled:
" I am an official Ohioan Today!"
" I am a Man Today"
" Bite Me God, Bring it On!"
" So I got tired of busting my back shoveling the wet cold crap"
TL/DR: I broke down and bought a snow blower today.

They use those here to get the snow of Roofs. Anything under 11HP and not self propelled it's just not worth the investment.

My driveway is only 20x 25 on a corner lot. Really don't need much more. Did the job fine and in short order. I actually wanted a self propelled, but figure I still need some excercise. |

Wait you own motorbikes don't you? There is your self propelled.
Now all you need to do is say "here, hold my beer and watch this" before trying it and you are set. |

The lady next door has a bunch of cats that I find a nuisance. I had thought it might be funny to place some red food dye filled balloons along the sidewalk and watch her panic. Than again she has already had one heart attach, might not want to push it.
Dave, you can simply ask your wife about the 4-7".

You should never assume that without being absolutely certain how the weather where someone lives actually is. Many years ago (1995) I had to shovel snow out of the back of my Jeep Wrangler because I had taken a beer-induced nap during the day and left the soft-top down . . . in June.
Bigger is not always better. (I for instance have a back walk that is only 26" wide; anything wider than that would be useless for my purposes.)
Actually, single stages work best for driveways/sidewalks. The non-metallic impellers cause much less damage than the metallic ones in dual stage snowblowers. They also make it possible to get more snow off the surface since you don't have to worry about cutting into it/damaging it. (The blades also tend to set closer to/right on the surface, rather than above it.) Also, that looks like a Toro. The blade design on those enable them to throw snow better than many two stages without the jamming of the secondary impeller that tends to happen in wet snow.
See Toro comment above. Also, since the impeller actually contacts the surface, they do pull themselves along.
Win.
More win.
Even more win. This thread delivers. |

My choices were this or the $1200+ John Deere with headlights and all sorts of other crap that I really don't need. Interesting info on the two stage issues. Thanks.
It's actually a Craftsman, but is apparently comparable to the Toro as every reveiw I read on it did exactly that.
The handle, pull-starter and impeller design would make me think that Toro builds them for Craftsman. My choices were this or the $1200+ John Deere with headlights and
all sorts of other crap that I really don't need. Interesting info on
the two stage issues. Thanks.
You're welcome. I just had to get a new one after the cheap Wal-Mart (Yard Machine) one I had broke so I still retain most of the research I did before purchase. (The most surprising fact for me was how many places don't recommend a two stage for any type of pavement at all.) Edited by Mack - 26 February 2011 at 10:14am |

Everything is flooded here from a few days of rain.
The Floridian part of my brain is marveling that it happens like that here.

I find it amusing that so many of the rent's basement dwellers are questioning my choice of blowers.
