Got this in the e-mail today: 

"Congratulations! It gives us great pleasure to inform you that the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Doctoral Application Review Committee has approved your application for doctoral studies for the Fall, 2011 semester." 

Where I'm at now for my master's degree has me on the "waiting list," meaning that while I didn't get offered a spot, if anyone of the people who did get offered turns their spot down, it moves down the list to possibly me. There are five spots and four people, including me, on the waiting list. Two people have already accepted, so that leaves three. 

And I'm still waiting on two other applications to come back. 

But at least now the waiting is a little more comfortable, knowing I have somewhere to go.

_EDIT_ This also reminds me how much I'm looking forward to seeing babies named for people's favorite "handles" in the next few years. I fully expect "xXShysterXx" and "Newb Cannon" to show up on a birth certificate within five years.

Well, they made the best offer, and were one of the only ones to let me in. 

So yesterday I officially committed to University of Florida. 

They offered me a pretty solid chunk of change per-year in exchange for teaching a class or two (Along with waived tuition). The money is conditional to me properly defending my thesis by August 1. 

So yeah, holy crap, no pressure there at all. Confused
