Had a huge introductory post typed out, accidentally closed it when switching tabs........

My names Nick Im from Worcester where soon Ill be playing woods ball with my cousins on their 2 acres of land.
I managed to trade my PC repair services for an unused 98 custom. It seems mechanically sound just ugly.

It looks like it was one of the model that came with camo but this one is about 85% camo free. I took the time to remove the grips and cleaned up the rest of the camo wrapping. Paint is chipped and the allen screws are a bit rusted.

Id like to make this a hobby but Im very broke and will be so for a while,. I am planning to pick up the sandpaper and paint tomorrow and clean it up a bit. I'm thinking an olive green for the body and flat black for the tippman 98 custom wording

Anyone know if that barrel is the stock one?

Not as ugly in person the flash really picks up every scratch.

Ive got some basic ideas for hop-ups just restricted by the cost

Eiter way this season should be run!

It does not look like a stock 98 Custom barrel; it does, however, appear to be a stock Custom Pro barrel.  These barrels were somewhat nicer than the barrels that came with the 98 Custom and should be more than adequate until you can afford an after-market barrel as long as it is undamaged.  (It will definitely be better than the original stock barrel off that marker would have been.)

Thanks for the reply the barrel seems solid. Odd design though The width taper at both end getting thinner in the middle then wide out to the ends doesnt really seem like a good design if you're trying to get the ball flying straight

The barrel is completely straight on the inside. You also have an upgraded double trigger, probably from the same Custom Pro.

I would paint the marker whatever color you want, then lightly sand over the lettering so it shows up silver. You dont need to do it, but it looks clean that way.

I went to my local shop bought some oil, filled the 9oz tank it came with. He said the same thing the barrel looks like the tippman custom pro one.

Unfortunately a nut on the right side, seems like it was stripped, wouldn't tighten just spun, shot off a couple rounds one went far one just poped out of the gun, the gun didn't re-cock, and the nut was apparently blown off, I dont think the previous owner took very good care of the gun.

Gonna try to hit up my local paint ball shop and buy the replacement nut. Hopefully the nut is stripped and not where is screws into.

I planned to either polish the raised lettering after i painted the gun or paint the letters themselves black. Either way seems like I gotta worry about the mechanical parts first.

Thanks for your replies
