The 98 is one of the best markers available. Robust, easy to maintain, and user friendly. It is definatley a great starter marker. |

Essentially the same question you have already asked. Please refrain from multiple threads regarding the same subject.

Let me ask this then. If the 98 is a good starter what is a good second choice and why? if I don't need to fire 30 rounds a sec, Barrel velocity is apparently the same across the board. What makes a gun worth $600 +?

98's are considered starter markers because they come out of the box pretty basic which leaves lots of room for improvements like E-grips, RT triggers, etc. A5's are somewhat of a step up, but mostly because they utilize the Cyclone feed system and the X7 Phenom is considered the top of the line Tippmann. It has quite a different valve system than the other markers in the Tippmann line, and oddly enough very similiar in design to how an AGD E-mag works. Nice markers, but seem to have a bit of a reputation for not being very reliable. At least that is the vibe I get from some of the players I talke to about it.

O.K. maybe $600 is a stretch I was just wondering what was the second marker I should buy? If I'm not interested in rapid fire. What do you mean by electros? Eyes? The smaller run pumps closer tolerances? longer lasting?

If you are not interested in higher rates of fire which negates the need for electronic frames, eyes, better efficiency etc than there really isn't much reason for you to upgrade. If you're happy with it, stick with it.
