Which tippmann for lefty

Typically lefties do not have much of a problem shooting guns like the A-5 or X-7, in fact the new A-5's were designed with an ambidextrous grip.  The only awkward situation you may have would be cocking the gun, or switching modes/safe.  I know a number of lefties who play paintball and they really don't have a problem shooting with the cyclone feed.  But a quick question: have you tried shooting the other way?  Most players overtime become ambidextrous overtime due to over-exposing their left side coming out of bunkers.  Also some left handed players prefer to shoot right handed to begin with (it has to do more with eye dominance than hand preference)

And from experience (I shoot an A-5 ambidextrously) the cyclone feed is not a problem at all.  Just go and try one out and buy whichever feels best or fits your budget best.  

I have not had much of a problem shooting left handed.  If I were you I would go to a park and ask to try out someone's A-5.  There is nothing better than trying it for yourself.  Yes the hopper will be in the way if you have it in close and hold it like a real gun, but it really doesn't feel like an obstruction.

Well the hopper on the 98 is a different kind of big.  It is taller and set off to the side about the same as on the A-5.  The main difference is the size of the neck with the 98 being smaller and the A-5 being bigger.

The 98 feed neck is offset to the right, it should give you a left handed shooter a pretty good field of view.  However, it is a great idea to learn how to shoot with both hands in order to work a bunker for cover and fire support/suppression.

If you ever want to upgrade to a cyclone feeder later from your 98 all you need to do is get a 98 cyclone feed kit. they are super easy to install and help so much with feeding issues.

Not really. Think of it this way. having the hopper on right side of the gun (away from the sight line) when you exit cover on the left side (which as a lefty you would likely prefer) the hopper will stay behind cover just a little bit longer.  in other words the barrel will be poking out and shooting before the other team can land a hit on your hopper.  I would probably go with the A-5 or Phenom from the start if you can afford to.  If the hopper becomes too much of a problem Tacomo has mag feed kits, Multiple companies have the Tac Caps for cyclone feeds (small covers for the hopper that hold about 50 rounds)  and there are even Q-loaders (I don't recommend these they require modifications to your gun that you can't undo)
