Went to VA today, swelling and bruising of butt cheek as well as lower back pain has not gone down since fall at paractice last tuesday. Due to blood thinners I bled too much internally with deep bone bruise, and did compress two lower vertibre injured years ago, may need traction, will know tomorrow when I go to spinal clinic. Hurts like hell and have trouble sitting or sleeping, between hydrocodone and naproxin only way I can sleep. So I am done for year in hockey and probably for good. Just getting too old and as Momma says I still have great memories and a few trophies for the mantel.

Maybe time to just sell gear off and move on, I bought almost all new stuff, but I did have some months of fun revisiting my youth.

Bad year, crashed bike racing, now this...I will probably electrocute myself with model railroad next.

I imagine you would build one hell of a model railroad setup. Good to hear the updates and that you're still being a stubborn bugger making the most of things any time you have a chance.

Better to miss things you used to do than regret not doing them once you can't.  I'm sure you'll find something similarly invigorating (if slightly less brutal).

I seriously think that low impact hobbies or sports would be a really good idea champ.

You still impress the hell out of me OS.

I could see you becoming an ice hockey coach for local teams. It would seem to fit you.

This. You had to see the old SOB running around the field with us youngsters at a reenactment two years ago. LOL

What scale Model RR do you run OS? My father had a beautiful HO scale set that he'd been working on for 20 odd years. Sort of made me want to get into it.

?

I am already into coaching the IP(3-5 yr old first timers)and Mite programs. Enjoy the 'lttle guys' more than older kids where the parents all think thier kid is Wayne Gretsky's 2nd cousin.

Right now I have all my N-Guage from one of my tours in Germany, all German DB prototypical. Looking at shifting to HO since eyesight not what it used to be. Can get far more N into space than HO, we will see. I am going US prototypical, a Northeastern setup on one side (Delaware and Hudson) a western setup Union Pacific/BNSF on other, L shaped along walls, a small closet in between, trains will be tunneled underneath closet, coming out in a NY/PA scenary on one side and a IA/NE on other, Albany,NY to Lincoln,NE, with AMTRAK running between the two (just need to make sure that the AMTRAK train runs late to keep it real..LoL)

Still have my 1/6 scal WW1 Fe2B scratch build project going

Already have two 'Parkflyers' a Spitfire and a F4F electrics

I still do the Flames of War minitures. Actually in a 6 week tourney starting tomorrow. "Infantry Aces" pure Infantry Companies with only limited armor support. I am fielding a 1944 post D-Day American Infantry Company. On the 29th doing the regional qualifier, either doing 1944 Normandy Panzergrenadier Mech Company, or US Cav Armored Recon.

So far I have assembled and painted:
Complete US Army 1944 Infantry Company
Complete US Army 1944 Parachute Infantry Company
Complete US Army 1944 Cavalry Armored Recon Company w/105 and 155 Arty

Complete Soviet 1944 Assault Infantry Batalon
Complete Soviet 1944 Infantry Batalon
Complete Soviet 1944 Tankovy Batalon w/heavy artillery and kataysha rocket trucks

Complete German 1944 Panzer Grenadier Company w/attached armor

Complete British 1942 Tank Battalion North Africa w/RHA artillery battery

All units do have various attachments available Regimental and Divisional support.

Another expensive hobby
